Default Sky Cards?

I am living in Javea area of Northern Spain, and have the cheap family package from Sky @30 euros a month, and it is pure rubbish full of repeats and no british T.V or any decent Movie Channels atall.
The problem is as I live in an Apt block the dish is Communal and is only 1.9m
Can I just buy a new one off better card from Sky, and replace it with the one already in there? or would I have to take a more expensive package?
Is there a better alternative ,that does n't cost an arm and a leg.
My Digibox is a ( Grundig ) and the T.V. was one we brought over from London.
I have spoke to different people ,who seem to have all various :scared: alternatives, Swiss Cable etc , to companies that set you up for a large one off payment.
Please help! as I am absolutely confused , my years contract is up and I can switch companies if I have to.
Any advise I would welcome.
Kind Regards

I'm no expert on this but I think everything depends on the dish. Typically in Javea you need a 2.4 metre dish to get BBC, ITV etc. To pay to get one installed will cost €1400 approx. You should then get lots more channels than you do now without paying anymore or having to contact Sky.

I don't see any other solution. Best person to call is Richard Pollock 670 362 395 - he installs but will give you honest and unbiased info. (well he did to me anyway).

Regards

Mark

A problem you face is the dish being communal and you might not get permission to put your own dish up on the roof.

You could talk with the other property owners and discuss upgrading the dish to 2.4m, and sharing the cost between you .

Failing that, depending on where your apartment faces, you might be able to install a motorised 0.85m system that will get you some UK channels, plus movies, sports and more. They're between €650 and €700 fitted. You could then ditch your sky subscription.
