Default The Skills Plane!

It's great isn't it?

It runs from every airport in Britain and beams highly skilled Brits into Spain on a daily basis. All of whom immediately possess a CV full of successful entrepreneurial activity and a multidude of skills ranging from space exploration to taxidermy. But I made the big mistake of coming by car so I'm just stuck doing the same job here that I did for 20+ years back there!

So shut down all the UK universties, colleges etc....forget all about doing your time as a tradesman.....just get a ticket for the Skills Plane! It's a bit like The LoveBoat.....but without the romance and the bald captain!

Hell....if they turned the damn thing around midflight and took them all back to Britain, all the country's financial and social problems could be cured overnight.

So....did you come over on The Skills Plane?

Brilliant and well thought out.

People do seem to re-invent themselves on the journey as you say.

This is an unusually thoughtful post from you my friend!

I came by car I'm afraid and left all skills I had ever aquired in life somewhere in France I think. I'm sure I had them when I left.

It does seem though that there are a huge number of untrained carpenters, plumbers and electricians here all anxious to destroy your home at the earliest opportunity, but still at top notch prices

you are making a valid point XTreme

BUT

There are un-skilled and un-trained tradesmen in all countries Im sure

Do you not know anyone in UK who has been ripped off by a "builder" or "plumber" etc etc etc

as has been said time and TIME again - get references, check out their work and for gods sake dont hand over any money until you have checked them out - this goes without saying whether you ate in Spain, UK or anywhere else for that matter

How many times have you heard the stories "well I was in a bar and I met this nice man who said he would...... so I gave him the money and I havent heard from him since" these people have themselves to blame as much as the cowboys :curse:

ps and I have to add there are Spanish cowboys here too who are all too willing to have your euros away !!!!

Yes....but....over here they're multi-talentless over a vast number of trades and skills!

You name it....they've done it! You want it....they can get it!

They've got so many skills and led such eventful lives they must be 300 years old.
They've served in the army, navy, and air force simultaneously....while having a number one record in the charts....and building suspension bridges in their free time.
You mention something they know all about it.....talk about something like the Kennedy Assasination and they'll tell you it was them that sold Lee Harvey Oswald the gun. Diana's death? They were driving the white Fiat!

There are no limits or boundaries in the world of the multi-talentless bullshitter......because in the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king!

I get what you were trying to say now!

and I wholeheartedly agree.

I have said this a couple of times, the amount of "ex-SAS" we met out there was really quite an eye opener!

I used to work with the SAS quite a bit when I was in Aldershot, great bunch of lads and lasses. Most of them had a sick sense of humour but it comes with the territory I suppose. I'm surprised that so many are out here!

As for the ex old bill out here, they will tell you that they were CID if they had a six week attachment to them during their probation

My dad was with them for years, he now does an administrative job with them, but on a voluntary basis. He was always amused by the sheer amount of them in Spain, and always so talkative about what they had done.

Strange how so many firemen are carpenters, plumbers, electricians and painters in their spare time!!!!!!

Maybe they are practicing for coming over on the skills plane.
