Size of coffee- have they got larger?!
had the usual coffee this morning in town and we got to wondering if the actual size of coffees has got larger, here in Spain, over the years? Thirty years ago if you asked for a coffee with milk you got maybe half or less of todays offering. I am not talking Grande here. Those seem to fall into two types. One shot of coffee and an enormous amount of milk OR double shot and an enormous amount of milk!"
Anyone else noticed this?

We noticed in the market today that the local bar has now gone to a larger cup, holds about a third more than it did last week!

Well at least they're heading in the right direction.
Give em another fifty years and we'll be able to get a decent sized mug.

I've concluded that 'tourists' get the better deal..... a usually pretty patterned cup and saucer which contains at least 30% more than the customary vaso (with which I'm more than happy) served locally. Not sure if the 'tourists' are charge more?

haven't noticed any real difference in coffee sizes but have noticed that a glass of beer, on the price sheet as 33cl is usually way lower than the top of the glass - probably by 20-25% (size of glass measured using a bottle of Coke)

coffe with milk is large. fifty fifty milk and coffe.
if you want short, you must request "cortado". cortado is the same caffe with a bit milk. a drop milk .
too, you can request "solo" is the same only coffe.

You can also ask for a leche manchado - milk stained with coffee, much weaker than a "con leche" but around here Manchado is pronounced man chow!!!

Ah yes but the limits of where you say 'nube' for an extremely weak coffee and where you have to say leche mancha'o (similar pronunciation down here) seem to be somewhere north of Antequera and South of Sevilla!!!
