May I ask what area that is in, we were looking in Maidstaone and Grays at a 2 bedrooms costing £75,000 for 35% ownership.

That's not a bad price if that's all inclusive at least you know where you stand with that, when I bought by flat after the first year they whacked the maintanence charge up by 50% was not a happy bunny but what can you do.

All her other friends are currently sorted, and she doesn't really want to share with a stranger. It seems to me a logical step. Gets her on the housing ladder and it costs her only £220 a month, gives us somewhere to stay when we go over there
RM .... your missus would be a little mift wouldn't she

I know this is probably a bit high brow for you lot
, but has anyone got any knowledge of these for property purchase, i.e. are they a good thing or do you eventually get screwed over by the housing company.
My daughters flat mate has decided to do a bunk, so I have to find somewhere for her to live as she cant afford the rent on her own

I can see this is going to be a nightmare. The shared ownership flat itself was in an OK area, but she had to walk through a rough area to get to it, and as she would have to do that walk at night quite a lot it has been discounted now.
I'm now experiencing what it must be like for a first time buyer

My daughter phoned last night, she has put an offer in on a 1bdr flat in a
OKish sort of area, I do worry about this but at least she has a car so won't be walking the streets at night. It called for offers over £129,000 she has offered £124,995 no pain no gain as they say, she can't go any higher this is already over her budget so mum and dad will be coming to the rescue. Only wish we could buy it for her but that is out of the question..............unless I win lotto this week.
As you say Mitz, opens your eyes to what first timer buyer are having to deal with.
