Default Serious flooding

Just viewed a video taken from a high vantage point showing some terrible flooding and a street where cars and large vehicles were being washed along it and tossed about all over the place. The scene looked horrendous. Somebody commented that it was in the Malaga area but weren't more specific. Here in the Northern CB we've had some periods of heavy rain but nothing approaching this.
Anyone know what area(s) were affected?
Thanks.

Have a look at this,

Weather in Spain: Extreme weather conditions leave three dead in southeastern Spain | In English | EL PAÍS

Granada province badly hit, three killed.

Looks a bit nasty on this vid.

Warning to would be buyers, choose your spot carefully.
Flash floods are very common, often in barrancos which have apparently been dried out for many years.

Almost always buy on a hill top myself, though I've had the occasional bit of wind damage,I still prefer it to the risk of drowning.

Thanks for that information, much appreciated.
Got friends driving down from the UK to Estapona Monday/Tuesday to view their new property. Not heard from them as yet, but I hope they didn't meet these conditions on route or on arrival!
Thanks again.

These sorts of storms are incredibly localised.

We live on the Granada coast and we had about 6mm of rain yesterday - hardly noticeable!

A couple of years ago we had 150mm in well under one hour and 10 miles west they had none at all. We live on a slope on the top of a ridge so even that amount of rain was not a problem. For people in the town with nowhere for that amount of water to go, there can be huge problems.

We have been seriously affected in Albuñol, it hit the national and local tv and press, Adra was like a war zone, cars been washed away at least 3 lost their lives and pólice checking all the greenhouses, I know personally 2 people whose cars have been washed away.

Electric was off for almost 24 hours, Wall of wáter went down the rambla and the road was closed for a while, crash barriers gone etc etc, Check ideal.es granada for more videos etc.

No warning hit out of the blue, luckily we were only in town and got home quickly above it all

How are things now? Is the clear up operation under way or has the water not abated sufficiently yet?

People who have no experience of the gota fria cannot understand why there is such flooding. The problem is the sheer amount of water in a short space of time which hits suddenly. However, in addition many places do not have adequate drainage. For many that just means that small swimming pools appear in some low areas but for others it causes serious flooding and damage.

We had a lot of heavy rain and bad storms for several days and the temperature did drop but as you said it has risen again today. One advantage is that I can enjoy by walks on the sea front again now that August is over and people have returned home.

Hi Rosemary, they are hard at it clearing, but will take a while, crash barriers gone, service road the far side of our rambla has collapsed, many many invernaderos collapsed, Brit friend had his car washed away as did a Young Spanish friend. Top of town under mud today but they were working on it, Quite a few YouTube videos from Monday. Luckily we are above the town so apart from watching the rain and hearing the wáter in the rambla we were very lucky.
300 homes with problems, 3 that died were living in the tubes under the rambla ( lituanian) and were swept away, have to say I didnt know they were there, though is way down the valley. Everyone helping each other so brilliant, we have offered to do shopping for those stranded, not much else you can do.Think another week and they will have strated to get on top of it, well part way
