Seems this 200 E money I need to pay is actually setting up as a sole trader - all I want to do is sell at markets or wherever I can on a temporary basis.

But as has been said previously....If you are self employed to be legal you need a licence and you should be paying into the social security... just as you would in the UK, that costs 260€ per month regardless of where you want to sell.

and regardless of how much you earn - & just to reiterate - that's not a one-off fee - that's EVERY month

Per month means every month I thought?

yes, obviously - but in your last post it came across that it was some kind of 'setting up' fee, which of course it isn't
apologies if that isn't what you meant, but it sounded that way
and if it WAS what you meant, you wouldn't be the first to think it

actually...it is currently 285.24 euros

actually.............the minimum is less than that - & there are various circumstances take into account, including your age - so not everyone pays the same

Don't know about other areas in Spain, but if you read the pages and pages of 'Personal' adverts in the Sur in English weekly newspaper in Andalucia (and I can't believe just how explicit the wording of some of them is!) you will find that there is an awful lot of people already practising the oldest profession in the world here - so just as much competition in that field, I'm afraid!
