Default Security Grills - Rejas

Hi Guys

I have been investigating putting up security grills/rejas. These are the metals window bars and gates that are very typical of Spanish houses. The quotes I have received to date appear expensive - 3 windows E1,250and 1 patio door E1,500+. I wonder if anyone has had good experiences in having these put in or have done it directly with any carpenteria metallica in the locality?

Just bought a new BBQ with some safety features - does that count as a security grill

George, metal in Spain is now become very expensive and security grills should really be made from solid metal which is not cheap (Many make them from hollow steels bars now). The hollow ones are much cheaper but easier to get through, although... unless the solid ones have been really well made most crooks can get through them with any half decent car jack.

Rejas from a company in a large town will generally be more expensive (as anything in Spain now that comes from a costal town), I find that if I where to have something like you mention done I would look further afield, away from the coast, this way I get things at a more realistic price so try looking at companies that are rural rather than central.

At the company I recommended (norte y sur) I had one grill made to my wishes, of solid bars for € 140. Size 1,50 x 2.00 mtrs. This was 3 years ago.

George, which company gave you the original quote?
