For various forums about Brittany Ferries crossings/cabins/facilities/Club Voyage visit their enthusiasts site at www.bfenthusiasts.com It can get very specific though!

Hi
Thank you for all your info. My experience of my 1st drive down there was very interesting.

We set off from the NW Uk early in the morning, caught mid day ferry dover to calais. We drove through France with an overnight in Bordeaux (booked on expedia in McDs car park wifi) This drive was hard work and France was quite boring to drive through.
There were toll roads, and driving down to los boliches seemed hard work and expensive.
On return journey
We booked the santander Ferry for £307 and there were only 4 berth outside cabins left. If you book earlier I think you could get it cheaper.

We stayed over in Burgos, again booked by expedia, we stayed in Marriot Ac Burgos, the secure underground parking was extra (did not say that on website) (17E). The Hotel was 56E (twin rm) which was cheap. The Ac Burgos is right in the middle of everything and was excellent. The drive to Santander was lovely.
We went on the route Sur through Cordoba thru Madrid to Burgos, We did not encounter one toll road.

The ferry trip was excellent, there was entertainment, uk tv on in some areas. Films are on (war horse, TT soldier Spy) at 5.50 per film.

If I did it again, I would take my own food and buy some booze from the duty free.

The drive to and from the ferry (to Portsmouth) was excellent and we only put 1k mileage on the car and used 2 tanks of fuel.

In short I agree with the people saying take The santander ferry it make the journey an interesting one rather than a drudge. We even saw HMS victory on the way into Portsmouth.

Thanks and regards
Al
