Travelled from Stansted to Almeria with Ryanair in July and did the same route with Easyjet three weeks ago. On both occasions, everyone was boarding the flight but not sitting in the front row. Not sure why they were, but we sat there and didn't get moved on either trip. We were lucky enough to make two round trips with loads of leg room. We ae hoping for third time lucky when we fly out next time.
As for hand luggage, when we returned in mid-Nov, we had Manchego cheese, boquerones, chorizo all sorts of edibles in there and no-one at Almeria airport said anything but I couldn't take my mascara on-board! Very strange!
