Well that went well for England........I think the only positive is Olly Barkley...always thought he was a good player, he did well today.
Bath must be proud.

So Forty, any predictions today?
I was way off mark with the Wales game, just wondering how you see today's rugby going.

Right - -this is a bit late. I predicted wins for France and Wales before both games - I know, it's easy to say that now!!! - but, honest Guv, I did.
Think the England game was a foregone conclusion and the scoreline flattered them. Real lack of invention - shame when you think Ashton was an attacking guru at one time.
I thought Wales was going to go one of two ways. We grind out a win by the skin of our teeth or we romp it. I had to settle for highlights so didn't see the whole game :curse: but by half time I thought my second option looked likely. We let them back in the game, and despite the scare at the end, I don't think we were in danger of losing the result. We should have closed the game down when we had the chance. It was encouraging to see the Welsh forwards more than hold their own (no infantile jokes please
) against one of world rugby's most fearsome packs. If they can play like that for at least 60 minutes instead of just 35, they might do alright on the pool stage. Need to be playing ferocious 80 minute rugby by the knockout stages though and that might be a big ask. Let's see how we fare against France on Sunday then we can look at a possible shock win over Australia in the pool?????

All in all, one of the better games of the warm ups today.........sad to say it but I enjoyed watching both teams today.

Stephen Jones will find it hard to get in the starting XV now - he's better off staying crocked!!! Not to jump on the bandwagon but the absence of Henson (or similar kicking inside centre) is becoming apparent. Will Jenkins bit the bullet and call him in???????
South Africa looked handy. Game of the weekend though had to be Ireland v Italy. The Italians should really feel aggrieved. Not only was the Irish try at the death to win the game a result of a blatent forward pass but he lost control of the ball whilst trying to ground it and after watching it several times, I can't understand why the TV Ref gave it as there seems to be no conclusive evidence that the try was legal.
If Italy continue to play like that then Scotland are really in trouble - sorry Matt.

Yeah, despite the thrashing, quite a lot of positives for Wales to take from that. I was particularly impressed by the way they tried to mix up their game - something we haven't really done for a long time.

I think France were decent and the long haired twat Chaval played bloody well again.
Agree on the Italy bit, but I have always tipped Italy to go through.
SA are looking bloody handy at the moment, and that really worries me!!

I think the thing that was obvious in the Wales game was the fitness levels, I was a bit surprised to see guys starting to flag at half time, and to be honest its that factor that lost the game for Wales.

I think some of the traditionally lesser teams are going to do bloody well this time.

This RWC is one of the hardest to call to be honest, I didn't rate France before it, but they have increased the size of their backs, raised their fitness levels and really raised their game.

You see I definitely rate Ireland, I'm sorry but I cant see Wales going further than Australia and Fiji, certainly not judging on their current record.
