I agree with you there...
He was a good man and was not afraid to roll his sleeves up and work as a hospital porter, how many other famous people would be willing to do that?
What he did or didn't do in his private life is exactly that private, there is much speculation but no evidence to back it up, and it's noting to do with the rest of us anyway!

Yep I thought he was a great guy too, wish we had seen more of him on Tv in the last years.
News reports said locals saw him regularly jogging and he worked as a porter in his local hospital.
He made a lot of money too.

Here, I think is the definitve epitaph, and makes for impressive reading.
The last sentence on him possibly the best.

No idea if any of this is true, but it appears someone has been digging and come up with dirt. Maybe J2 was ahead of us on this subject

Let's face it all the DM, TV company and that woman aren't in it for publicity or to make money or to sell papers or progammes are they, of course not. As soon as someone in the public eye dies then there are all sorts of chancers jumping on the bandwagon to make money from it, from paramedics selling pics of the bodies, to people claiming to be thee 'love child' or to have had an affair with said person.
On the other hand as they say there's no smoke,.....and in this case there seems to be a surprising amount of smoke from different directions and enough for the BBC to take an interest.
It must be said that the lady who claims to be his daughter does bear a striking resemblance and she is strongly in favour of a DNA test to prove her point, so she'd be making an absolute fool of herself if shes not being honest

I don't think it's for anyone to pass judgement either way at present apart from those who knew him best.
For instance those who believed he lead a perfect monk like existence can have no way of knowing if that is true either.
It will be interesting however to hear the evidence, and there does seem to be rather a lot of it, from all those who were involved with him, wether it be for better or for worse.

I shared breakfast tea and toast with Jimmy Saville five mornings on the trot on Bon porteau campsite in Cavalaire in the south of France summer 1981, he was a friend of the owner of a holiday company from Leeds called ‘Joyeous Vacances ‘ and was invited over for a break and promotional purposes.... He was a fine raconteur and all round great bloke.... He was in his 40’s then and the girls of all ages wouldn’t leave him alone..And I mean WOULDN'T!!!.....Could he have taken advantage of that???........Part and parcel of the celebrity life he led.

So a woman claims to be his love child. Even it is true, so what? He was single and liked to sow his oats and good luck to him.

Some of these allegations have been around for a very long time, not just since he died, and as we know it's not uncommon for famous celebrities to be Teflon coated during their lifetime at least.

But I also remember allegations about Danny La Rue, except it wasnt girls

Its funny how rumours start after the event. A really nice family guy at our place left, the next thing all the snidey remarks were flying about him touching up women and badgering them to go out. But nothing ever said until he left - and some of the women making the allegations
