R.I.P.
Never was my cup of tea, but I don't think he ever did anyone a bad turn.

Much creepier and sickly for me is Bruce Forsythe.
Absolutely and completely devoid of any talent and makes me want to throw up every time I see him.

Quite.
The best show host by a fair margin IMO. I will concede he is now past it but at his peak a true professional.

Not saying it was the case with JS but much of these celebs charity raising is not as clear as it seems. They charge vast amounts for luxury accommodation, expenses etc. and sometimes the charity is left with a pittance after they have been paid out. Remember how there was all the Hype about Bob Hope charities, turned out he was ripping them off big time!

Those charity golf events is just a freebie holiday and a bit of publicity for them. Max Bygraves once came to an event in marbella, travel and hotel expenses paid, even though his Daughter had a sizeable house there. Some even charge the charity appearance money.
I do recall a friend trying to book him for a charity event in the 70s and his fees and demands were totally unreasonable, and included a box of very expensive cigars.

Should add: I am referring to JS.

I did not like him, I did not think he was funny nor any kind of entertainer either. If you liked him fine no problem to me.

Heard scandal about him oh yes... plenty... go look the net for it, there are plenty reports to read but I based my dislike of him long before I read any hint of his involvement in the events.

Stand up comedy.
Yer evin u larf aint yu ?
In all the years I've had the misfortune to see him, I've yet to see him crack one even half decent joke or an indecent one either for that matter.
IMHO, his idea of so-called stand-up comedy would be an insult to the intelligence the average five year old.
As for dancing it's not really my cup of tea in any serious sense.
I enjoy doing my thing in a much more relaxed sort of way plus a bit smooch at the end of the night and prefer saving most of my energy for better things.
Everybody to their own I suppose, but personally he makes me reach for the sick bowl every time he pops up and repeats over and over the same pathetic mindless crap that he's been shoving down the throats of the simple minded for longer than I care to remember.

Er just to clarify in case anyone gets the wrong idea I'm not referring to J.S.

Used to like him in the early days but then realised that his only capability with comedy was to put people down,(he would probably have gone down a bundle on this forum). Not seen him for years as don´t watch GB tv but even back then he had become a sickly sycophant and this business of him pushing for a knighthood was oh so pathetic.

I think he had problems, but I have no idea if he was that way inclined. A friend who seems to know something of the guy did say he did an awful lot of charity work.

I agree with you there...

He was a good man and was not afraid to roll his sleeves up and work as a hospital porter, how many other famous people would be willing to do that?

What he did or didn't do in his private life is exactly that private, there is much speculation but no evidence to back it up, and it's noting to do with the rest of us anyway!
