I just love it here in the cooler months, as you say when all the hoards have departed Chiclana is a different place, we have been shopping this morning oh my 3 hours it took just to go and buy 4 bags of shopping....roll on September when they all go home

Chiclanagirl, I loved New Zealand when I went, Oh I could be very happy there so could Mal, but we thought very long and hard about the family, it is such a long way off and can be very expensive for family and friends to visit, no just popping over for the odd weekend to catch up on the gossip. At the moment Mal and I have no plans to go back to the UK but we are moving on from Chiclana when we sell up as we both feel after five years it is time to move on. I will miss it here as I think it has much charm and character, plenty of good points and a few bad but then so does everywhere else.
But where to?

well, my OH is returning home asap, the story is....
He is 47, he gave in his notice at work and we moved to spain, I really love it here BUT after doing all the work that our villa needed he now finds after nearly 2 years that he is bored stiff, we have put up our villa for sale and have knocked the price down to what we payed for it 3 years ago because he so wants to go HOME. I am 10 years older than OH so i suppose its a bit different for me but one thing he does say that its better to have tried, mmm.
work wise there is nothing here for him, and a lot of people in my area are on the look out for work, he doesnt have to work but he is bored, what can i say, do you want to buy our place??? he he

What will be the difference when he gets back to the UK? Will he return to work to avoid boredom? Then what?! Is he planning on working for the rest of his life?! What about you in all this?
Why not buy another property here to "do up"? Take up a new hobby or sport, get some interests (you can never stop learning Spanish for one!), explore Spain, explore the world! You don't have to live in the UK to do any of that surely?!

I agree with you, he will only have the same problems if he goes back to the UK, but in the rain.....
