Is that that both are closed? I was aware that the chiringuito closed over the winter and did not appear to reopen in spring but I thought by now it would be open. The substantial restaurant La Cabra stayed open through the winter to serve the "Saga" guests at the Barcelo and was open a few weeks ago when I passed.

We spent a lovely evening yesterday at the Theatre in Ayamonte listening to the beautiful voice of Linda Scanlon but before doing so we tried the new Pizza/Pasta restaurant (La Familia) on the opposite side of the road. They do 33cm & 45cm Pizza's and 3 of us shared the latter preceded by a very nice Tropical Salad. Well worth a visit, regards Bryony

Re: Pool at Hoya 19

You know when you assume something and turns out to be wrong :o......... I assumed that the pool in front of Hoya 19 belonged to the restaurant and was for its patrons.. as it only seemed to be in action when the pub opened... but I understand today that it is for residents only of the surrounding villas? could someone just clarify that for me please. thanks..

The whole site was built as a leisure facility for the adjacent villas, which each 'owns' a share. Hole19Hoya has leased the building, and carried out improvements to operate as a bar/restaurant, from the owner's cooperative. I thought it also included the pool, but possibly it doesn't.

Thanks Mike.. well at least I was not alone in thinking that.. some relatives of mine went over today with their 10 year old expecting to have a lunch and the boy could swim, but that is not the case so, to avoid disappointment in the future perhaps it is worth noting for other " assuming people" if in fact it is correct. Regards Sandra.

Hi, the pool is only for use by the Villa owners I'm afraid although it does seem a bit of a waste as most of them have got their own pools, go figure

Another issue arises from an incident a couple of years ago when a Spanish boy nearly drowned in the pool. A lot of fuss was made about the lack of a lifeguard, so I would guess that even if H19H does include the pool they wouldn't want the aggro and expense of allowing public use. It's interesting to note that a disability lift has been installed, which would lead you to think that it was originally intended to open it.

There was a lifeguard when we were there recently, and poor guy was doing nothing all day long... I hope the villa owners used the pool, and gave him something to do - so far over this high season! Re the pool for general use, I think it was well mentioned on this forum, that pool use was restricted to the villa owners and their guests (hint hint)

Isn't Manalo a villa owner and therefore all his patrons could be said to be guests;)

Pool is being used today by a large family, but have watched them walk down the road into one of the villas.
New bar/ resto opened on the square by the Barricata. Has a cocktail offer on today.
