Why would it be illegal? All spanish agencies that I know of work this way. Ie, fee up front and then no monthly charge.

If you only pay a months rent in advance (to the landlord) and a months rent deposit (to the landlord) how would the agency earn their money if there is no monthly fee either?

Cos most charge a percentage of the rent each month.
I will see if I can dig up the thread.

Then that would be the difference. The "up fronters" here in Jerez don´t make monthly charges.

we rent direct from the owner no fee up front

This may help HERE there is a lot of info in the sticky thread at the top of the forum ;-)

As most threads go off on a tangent I cant find the bit about finders fees I was looking for ;-(
