Rental Contracts Madrid
Hi there
I have a question regarding renting here in Madrid which I seem to remember reading on here before but cannot find!
My partner and I have been living in our flat for just over four years and want to move on. We initially had a one year contract however since that finished we have had no paperwork to say the contract has been extended - everything (extensions and rent being decreased) have been agreed by word of mouth except when the rent increased which we got in writing.
We want to leave but before we start comitting to other property, wanted to know where we stand and have read that basically the contract is automatically renewed so we may have to pay a penalty. We were also told that we dont have a contract so can leave anytime! We havent spoken to the landlord yet as we wanted to get some advise first.
Any advise you can give would be most helpful?
Thanks
