LD Lines Gijon - St Nazaire
Good afternoon. We have to be back in Brittany for the week end of the 8th of September and with advancing years I cannot just countenance the motorway journey. I have to be realistic. What I was able to do ten years ago is in one's distant memories.
Coming back we will go with BF from Portsmouth to Santander so another journey back from St Malo to Portsmouth is also having to be taken into account.
I believe that motorail no longer exists so has anyone please used the LD lines on this route and from Javea to Gijon a problem or not?
Budget airlines do not tie in with the timings.

The No 1 son moved to Cork RoI and we had to revise our route. We now do Gijon to St Nazaire then Rosscoff to Cork or Cherbourg to Rosslair.
This was helped by the Brittany strike last year which forced to use LD Lines last year. We discovered a much cheaper ferry service not as "posh" but the cabins were a tad more spacious and the linen scrupulously clean more designed for truckers but very acceptable. Gijon is almost due north of Ayamonte and it is motorway A66 all the way for us excellent quiet and very quick. We stopover in Salamanca on the way up.
Our return is Portsmouth/Santander with a stopover in Valliodolid.
