Default Renta Declaration

My only income is a state pension and other pensions in the UK on which I pay tax as per paye. As this is my first full year of residencia in Spain I submitted my P60's to my bank ( who complete the process as part of my account) I have been informed that their gestor has said that as I have a zero return, it is not necessary for me to submit a declaration.
Has anybody else been told this?
Pete

You should make the first declaration and in subsequent years it is not essential. Unless they get a declaration, zero or otherwise, the tax office will not recognise you as a tax resident which could affect CGT and IHT in the future.

Gestors are used to dealing with Spanish nationals who are tax resident by default so it is not an issue with them.

As the deadline has now passed I would wait until next year and make sure they do it then.

Bank says July 2nd is deadline so told them to get on with it. Thanks for info regarding future years.

Yes, if it is a zero return July 2nd is OK. If you have any tax to pay it has to be in on 29th June so you should be OK so long as they pull their finger out!
