My town hall has just sent me the list of the towns affected by the restrictions of travelling as stated in Post 174.

The municipalities affected are Alaquà s, Albal, Aldaia, Alfafar, Algemesí, Alginet, Benetússer, Beniparrell, Catarroja, Xiva, Guadassuar, Alcúdia, Llocnou de la Corona, Massanassa, Paiporta, Picanya, Sedaví, Torrent, the three pedanias in southern Valencia affected and Xirivella.

More of a risk here are gas explosions where people use larger butano gas cylinders for cookers and water heaters, they are very common as a lot of areas don't have natural gas supplies laid on. One of my former neighbours in our old house was killed about 15 years ago in just such an explosion. But these camping gas containers are much smaller, like an aerosol can, so would not cause such large explosions.

The little blue ones?

Sounds like you'd be safe enough.

Camping stoves are never recommended for indoor use - although I do remember we used one way back in the eary 70s in the UK with those low, medium and high risk periods

Why? A camping stove running off bottled gas is no different to the millions of domestic gas cooking hobs used in Spain running off Butano Cylinders. I have a 3 burner portable gas hob running of a gas bottle for emergency use.

Lots of reasons here (similar all over the internet for different countries)
But the insurance reason would be my biggest concern.

Oh, yes, that would work. The pot might be a bit thicker though? I've never used one.
The old poaching pan I used was nicely thin.
Some of the old whistling kettles can be light and thin too.

Yes, we would use an ordinary pan rather than the thicker one supplied.

So 8 million Spanish homes are not insured when they use their cookers.

OK folks that is enough of the conversation that is an offshoot of the subject. Can we please return to the main reason for this thread.

No, mine are smaller than that, literally the same as an aerosol can of fly spray or something.

That blue one is a standard Camping Gaz cylinder. Incredibly expensive compared to the state subsidised orange bottles. It’s a convenient size though. I use one on my Paella ring burner.

So far the rain we have had today in Alfafar has flooded the streets during the downpours but quickly drained.
It also washed the streets so when it dries, it will not be dust storms when the big military trucks, police vehicles and others drive thru the main street as it has been for the last week or so...
Lets hope the next couple of days are the same...
Tomorrow we will have water in our donated fourth floor apartment after the water submerged the pump and electrics... The plumber is from Bilbao and the pump was donated..
Bravo to all the volunteers from Valencia and Spain for all of their help....

Glad to hear that the rain drained away because one of the concerns that people had.was that the drains were likely to be blocked.

Hope that the plumber sorts out the problem.

I read today that Mercadona have made €40M available to pay compensation to their workers who were affected by the DANA in Valencia - €50,000 if their house was completely or partially destroyed, and €15,000 if they lost their car. They will get the money by 21 November. They have also started a fund to help small businesses and start ups which were affected. Good for them.

Wow the pictures from Málaga in the hospital looks terrible plus the bus flooding confirms how bad this is becoming. Really starting to feel a bit unsafe living near the med coast as they pretty much agree that the sea is too warm for this time of year. Find it ironic that folk are so worried about using Revolt , Wise etc for keeping their money but willing to put all of it into Spanish house with zero ability to insure it in a situation that is quite possibly able to happen.
