Default Question for "The Guy"

Hi,

On our return to Spain in October, we noticed we had "lost" BBC1 Yorkshire (leeds area) and could only access East Yorks/Lincs. Not a major issue but we saw your post on frequency changes, put them in the system but still no signal? Just message advising us to call sky.

Is there anything else we can try?

Many thanks

BBC1 Yorkshire Leeds was one of the bbc1 regions that changed their frequency mid october from a "strong" vertical frequency to a much weaker "horizontal" frequency. So its reception will be worse than it used to be.

No amount of changing or inputting frequencies will get it back - its only on one frequency - the weaker one!

All BBC1 and BBC2 regions are already in the Sky and Freesat channel list (971 and 900 upwards!) anyway so you dont have to add anything.

And you will get a no signal message and call sky message if you try to add the new BBC1 Yorkshire Leeds frequency at a time when you cannot receive it! Even on 2.4m dishes you may not be able to receive this region 24/7!

Well that explains it.
I read about the changes and rescanned box. Then I stopped getting BBC2England and BBC3/CBBC. I noted they were now on horizontal but had no idea that this was so weak as to go bye bye. Oh well no more Doctor Who, just when a sonic screwdriver would come in handy and I´m learning a lot about Scotland on BBC2.

I'm confused. I use a dreambox for sky & found the new BBC Yorks simply by doing a new scan, my dish is approx 1.2m

BBC1 and BBC2 frequencies are now split between weaker horizontals and stronger vertical.
If you were getting BBC1 OK before then changes then you should still be getting them OK now - its just you may have to use a different region than you were doing so before.

So for example, BBC 1 Channel Islands was on a strong vertical frequency, its now on a weak one, so just use another BBC1 region. There are about 20 or so of them! If youhave a freesat or sky box, then they will already be in the channel list. otherwise you will have to find them in your "generic" receivers channel list, or even perform a rescan.

Of course reception depends where you are and what dish you are using.

The Guy,
After the shuffle on 18th Oct I re scanned FTA box. After this BBC2 england no longer worked but at least there is the alternative to use BBC2 scotland.
BBC3/CBBC do not have a regional alternative. As you said in your previous post, no amount of rescanning will bring these channels back if the signal is too weak now for the area you are in.
