Cases of babies being "stolen" by nuns and given to other families are coming to light.

The most amazing thing is that it was still going on untill the 80s.

The mothers were told that their babies had died and doctors and officials and other key people have all been implicated in this terrible crime.

The numbers run into thousands.

Some of the "babies" involved will still only be in thir 20 to 30s, what a shock it will be for them when all is revealed.

Those darn nuns......

The abuses by priests and nuns are many, and don't just involve sexual abuse. When people start thinking they have been granted divine power over the rest of us it corrupts them.

I was taught by nuns for 13 years. In fact I was in a convent (boarding school) for my 5 years of high school. Not all nuns/priests take advantage of their divine power......

I don't for a moment assume that they all do.

One would be too many, and the numbers of such abusers, sexual, physical and mental are huge, and the church makes it worse by trying to cover it up, especialy with the pope doing his best to keep it quiet.

You hush up the abuse of one child, and you are an abuser.

Let's assume that your school was a perfect one where all the nuns, priests etc where decent, honest people striving only to do good without hurting anyone.

How many abused children will all that good balance?

... and Jewish children stolen and "converted"... hmm?

Oh yes.

I have read stories of such horrific cruelty towards so many children, that it would make you weep. It's why I hate religion. I hate its cruelty, its desire to control people and its ability to stop people thinking for themselves and applying critical reasoning.

As Dawkins said, "Good people do good things, and bad people do bad things, but it takes religion to make good people do bad things."

But this is not a new story. the first time read about it was in Giles Tremlett's book Ghosts of Spain He obviously picked up on this story when researching the book.

It may well be old news, but it was one of the main stories on the radio yesterday, I had a long drive and changes stations loads of times because of poor signal, and it seemed to be every hour on the hour on all the stations.

Maybe it has been known about for years, but now I think there will be naming and shaming and trying to right wrongs, on a grand scale, instead of just stating that it happened in recent history.

But some wrongs cannot be righted. Imagine the horror of finding out that the parents you love were involved or consented the stealing of children, heavy stuff......

I just find it so hard that alleged xtians don't raise hell with the pope and all his minions.

Are they really so brainwashed that they won't do anything?

The rumblings are that things are already being done, all evidence must be in place before the lid is fully lifted.

Bet you that most of them simply won't accept that anything wrong has been done.

My school was far from perfect believe me. Th nuns are hard task masters.

Im not disagreeing with your comments about how disgusting it is and that nothing is being done. Im certainly not excusing their actions. I was only taking issue with the thought that if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck,...then it must be a duck......

There are some wonderful nuns and priests out there that do a fabulous job.
