Hi all,

I am looking to purchase a leasehold business with one other person in Spain. This would ideally be in a popular tourist hotspot in order to generate a substantial income. From what I can see, it would cost upwards of around £10,000 for a high quality leasehold. Would anyone be able to recommend any areas or tips on my move to Spain?

You don't seem to be asking for much! A high quality business of a type not described, in an area yet to be decided upon, the only proviso being that it should ideally be in a popular tourist hotspot! Oh and by the way you want some "tips" on your move to Spain. Suggest you do some more research of your own. Have you come over and looked around and taken some "on the ground" advice?

My comment to you would be, 'don't do it unless you have sufficient money to lose if the business goes belly up, as the majority of businesses that rely on tourism, do' remember it's leasehold, and you would be liable for the cost of the lease even if you have ceased trading, until the lease has been taken over. I knew several people in Spain who did just what you are thinking of doing, and their business was a sucess in the mian tourist times, BUT, once that was finished they struggled, and eventually closed up, in fact did a monnlight flit back to the UK as they just couldn't afford to pay the lease rent. This wasn't just one set of people, and near where we lived there was one business changed hands 4 times in 6 months, each time the people taking over said they had been shown business records that had been blatantly falsified to make the place look much better as a business proposition.
