Is it legal? Would I be able to order it and have it sent to the UK? Just wondered as my beautiful dog got attacked twice last year when we over in Spain! Tried using the walking stick, but wasn't quick enough or hard enough with it!! Hubby said I need to practice hitting objects with it!! (not him obviously).

Whatever the legalities it is fearsome stuff and a human would possibly need hospitalisation if they received a face-full.
I don't have any right now but as my two dogs (a Yorkie and.. um.. something else small) have been attacked by a GSD recently it is my intention to get some.
Even though it is legal in Spain, it is so nasty that I would expect to get a hard time from the authorities if I ever used it.

Yep, understand that completely, that's why I think pepper spray may be a better option, but only under extreme circumstances!

As far as I am aware (I'm being non-committal because I don't know for sure) it is ILLEGAL in the UK but legal here in Spain.

Sadly, you have to make sure first time under these circumstances. Stab it in the eyes with the pointed end. If it bites the stick, pin it to the ground and screw the pointed stick into the back of it's throat and don't stop. It won't give you a second chance - don't give it one. Sorry - not nice.

interesting topic. can one say there's lots of dogs walking alone , unleashed, in South of Spain?
good advice on paper spray.
is a taser legal though ? to carry it on with you ?
also, what about this disease, prevalent in Southern Europe:

it seems however there exist a vaccine and vets are starting to give,
in 3 doses spread over a few weeks, month. said to be efficient.

There may be in the campo, but not so much in the towns - the police have got quite keen on fining people now for not having their dog on a lead, and especially those classed as potentially dangerous breeds which are not muzzled.

good. fine them.

Don't quote me but I think your dog has to have tested clear before they can get the injections. Some vets are for it some not. Since the necessary tests for Leishmaniasis are varied and can be lengthy and even then some vets seem reluctant to diagnose it.

Don't know if this is also aloud where you are. A neighbour of ours had a similar problem with 4 labs that were allowed to become a pack in effect. My mate took his cattle prod ... has only had to use it once! with excellent results.
Makes a handy lightweight stick anyway so in the end just pointing it works.

I have had both my dogs vaccinated against Leichmaniosis. Yes there is a test and if the vet is not sure, another test will be sent away.
There are three injections, four weeks apart, then a booster every year; the booster can not be given at the same time as a rabies jab.
