A quick check for Disability benefit in Spain shows there is one, with a basic rate of half the UK lowest rate.
For wigs and fabric supports, there are organisations but not government help.
There appears not to be a universal rent allowance scheme for low incomes.

So right. I was first involved in major IT systems in the 60’s. Many of those (cutting edge at the time) systems evolved over time with new requirements placed on them which proved detrimental to their performance. ICL (a not very successful UK company) developed the original Horizon Post Office system which was continuously rewritten and ultimately involved a change of hardware supplier. We all know where that ended up and many are literally still paying the price for it.

The more I use the new, recently written, Spanish systems the more I like them. Digital Certificates and Cl@ve work perfectly and the RentaWeb tax declaration system is so easy to use.

An update (as we tend to like happy endings) SCO emailed this morning, thanking me for the scan, confirming that they have received the postal version, and will have any backlog cleared by the end of this week.

These are coming in thick and fast! I received one from the Civil Service Pension Scheme administrators on 3 January (the accompanying letter was dated 26 November but it had taken weeks to reach me). That one wasn't too bad because anybody not related to me or resident at the same address could sign to witness my signature, I had to send 2 proof of ID documents and 1 proof of address document with it and it could be scanned and emailed back to them so I still had time to meet the deadline. Just now another one from the DWP for my state pension has been delivered, letter dated 23 December so at least that has not taken so long to get here and they allow 16 weeks for it to be returned. The Civil Service one is only sent out every 5 years, their letter said, but I don't know how frequent the DWP ones are likely to be.

They are certainly speeding up sending them out Lynn. My wife got hers for state pension signed this morning at the Ayuntamiento she only became eligible to draw her pension last March .

I've never had one for my CS pension which I've been getting since 2007. Perhaps it kicks off at an age point.

Of course I'll get one now.

I thought they started after age 70. I have had a military pension since age 40 and got my first life letter last November I turned 70 last February. About 6 weeks later I got one from DWP so far not had one for my police pension but no doubt that will come shortly. My wife recieving hers yesterday blows that theory out of the water though as she is only 66 and only been drawing her state pension 10 months

The covering letter sent with mine said they were sent out every 5 years to those aged 65 or over.

I'm 68 and have been drawing my state pension for 18 months. My husband said today that he doesn't remember ever getting one from the DWP, he is 75 and has been drawing his state pension for 10 years. Who knows?

Hopefully they don't become an annual thing but who knows luckily our ayuntamiento are quite happy to sign them for us so not a big deal main thing is the pension continues to be paid.

They were always random - until now.

We've been pensioners since 2012 ('er indoors) and 2015 (your's truly) and despite being out of UK since 2007 she had just one letter maybe around 2014 but then suddenly about 3 weeks ago we both get one on the same day. Got an SMS today in fact confirming they had received mine so the wife's will hopefully follow shortly.

It will be the UK government/Rachel Reeves who have initiated the flood in order to clear the books of dead wood, if you'll pardon the phrase, and save money. I can't see it becoming an annual thing though, once the books are updated the cost of administering an annual check would completely defeat the object. Furthermore, for pensioners benefitting from an S1, the vast majority, Spain will likely be notifying UK of deaths.

I don't envy anyone caught out drawing a dead persons pension, particularly if they are pensioners themselves, because I'm sure any fraudulent payments can be clawed back from their own pension payments.

)'ve just been to get my DWP Life Certificate signed by my dentist, which was done immediately with no charge. He said they had had at least six other people in already with the same form, so they have obviously been sent out in bulk.

I wonder if they target specific countries, in rotation?
