What means do you recommend for verifying the voice on the phone?

Do people have to do this in the Uk as well??
I'm sure it would have been something my 80 odd yr old father would have whinged about over the years.
Its not a letter. It is a form that has to be completed and signed in front of a witness who has to be someone in authority not your kith and kin or an unqualified friend or neighbour. They are signing to say that they know that you are the person named on the form and also have seen photographic proof such as driving licence, passport or something similar.

My UK bank (First Direct) which does not have branches and operates solely by telephone or online banking, has been using voice recognition technology for a while, which once the customer has given permission for it to be used does away with the need to quote a password or ID number when phoning them. I had phoned them with a query when they told me about it and I gave my permission.

That sounds great. Can you imagine DWP doing that?

HSBC UK uses Voice recognition too....
Just got off phone to IPC after 5th attempt and after listening to different automatic replies, the first 4 being the same message that at one point makes reference to;

'.....cost of living support package approved by Chancellor at the end of May and being paid in July of 2022....' ????

the automatic reply to last call, was completely different and someone actually answered. I estimate that I have spent around 30% of what I receive in calling them.

Or their system gets hacked.
And it's working...not suffering from 'upgrading' or anything

Hopefully that letter will be seen as something additional to the normal routine, thus needing additional action. I noted the same sheet for an email so maybe that was a mistake on my part.
Well tracking the form did not work at all because I was not notified that it had arrived. However, today I received an e-mail in response to the letter that I had enclosed. Not just a short and to the point one saying simply that it had arrived but also explained that it was accepted, had been processed and that no further action was necessary. So my polite letter worked!!!!!!

Mine didn't but the second one did, with apology for not having done it first time.

In my experience, both here in Spain and previously in France, it would appear that postal tracking simply stops when the item either leaves or enters UK with the systems not talking to each other.

Which (in terms of enter) is exactly what Magyar Posta told us!

This is my experience as well; when I send my Swiss POL via registered post I can see it right through to delivery/acceptance at final destination, for the UK equivalent there is no visibility once the document has entered the UK.

For the UK part of the delivery try checking on the Royal Mail's website.
