The cinema in Ayamonte´s commercial center "La Plaza" has begun to show films in their original language ! Every day at 18:00...

Does this mean English even American or is it Dutch?

Re: Progress !

Is this the cinema you mean?

http://cartelera.ya.com/provincias/h...cines-ayamonte

You have to click on the film to see the times and whether it's in VO - Australia seems to be.

Jur Feb 20th 2009 5:27 am

Re: Progress !

Dutch films are terrible, the only have one theme: WW II.... and they all end the same, We win the war!
I also don´t think there´s a market for it.

On the link posted it does not say which original version (V.O. = Versión Original) is being shown...... We´ll keep looking.

In V.O, with subtitles?

Jur Mar 7th 2009 2:44 am

Re: Progress !

If the quality of the subtitles are the same as they do most translations here it´s going to be good for a laugh. Perhaps a job for SonofSpain or Borat.

Answering to your thread, I hope the proposal is a local initiative, and nothing else

And answering to your 2º comment, also it would be funny to see you speaking in Spanish, if it is that you know Spanish...Maybe the laugh would be our. Because as says our proverb: who laughs the last, laughs better

Probably pulled it. Even if EVERY expat in Ayamonte went, I doubt there would be enough to fill the room.

Sharon B Mar 13th 2009 12:10 am

Re: Progress !

But according to you Ayamonte and Costa Esuri was over run with expats, surely enough to fill 1 cinema if not more:rofl::rofl:

Re: Progress !

Well, that didn't last long did it? You would think that the kids film would be in VO but none have been during the last few weeks. :frown:Talk about giving up before you have even started, I suppose a bit of publicity by La Plaza would have been asking for too much!!

I am going to have to take the kids to see the film (no problem for them), oh well I could have a siesta, my Spanish is ok but not fluent enough yet to catch a whole film.

Already ? I saw a sign yesterday at the main exit saying: daily at 18:00 in sala 4.

No offence but what did you expect????

Do you really think your local Odeon in England would regularly hand over valuable space to a handful of Spaniards?

It is not necessary here, moreover it is not desired here, so why bring it???? Soon you'll be demanding a British shop that sells only British things, plus a Brit bar that sells Brit beers. Then there's this ridiculous Rotary Club nonsense.

Let's go the whole hog and have Morris Dancing every Saturday followed by Chav slags glassing each other after a night out.

Progress????

Do me a favour!!!

You say and ask for a lot, don't you?

Why isn't it necessary for some (including spanish speakers) to have the opportunity to view a film in the original language? Isn't choice important?
If it is not desired, then perhaps that is a deeper issue which needs to be addressed elsewhere?

Well, I can't speak for everywhere in the Uk, but my local cinemas in the UK always showed foreign language films in Version Original with English subtitles. None of this doblaje crap!

If you go to the larger cities like Madrid there are always plenty of cinemas that only show Version Original......I always assumed that it was a culture thing rather than because they were trying to cater for foreigners. I guess in small town Spain they are not so interested in culture.

Doblaje massacres a good film and is responsible for the low level of English spoken by many Spaniards (IMO).
