Default Problems viewing FIVER etc...?

We are just wondering if you guys are having problems to get fiver, fiver+1 etc on sky, when we put them on it says something along the lines of not available and something about the viewing card...
All the rest of the channels are fine!
thanks

You need to get a new sky card, there are a few recent threads on it.

The 1st March was the start of Sky deactivating all the old blue sky cards.
On screen messages since Octover 2009 have been saying that you may lose access to some channels if you do not get a replacement white sky viewing card.

Since the 1st March, if you have still been using a blue card, then you will be seeing an on screen message alongthe lines of "programme no longer available". this basically means that you will need a new card to watch that programme.

This affects Fiver, Five Usa, Sky 3, Viva TV, Liverpool FC TV, 6 ITV1 regions and the Irish C4s.- the free to view channels.

It does not affect the free to air channels like BBC or ITV1,2,3,4 etc, as these are free to air and do not ned a sky card to view.

and, where can i get a new white card from? and for that, would i need a subscription/uk address and all that?

Sorry if this is old news, but its only just happened to us!

The deactivation of a blue card only affectsFiver, Five Usa, Sky 3, Viva TV, Liverpool FC TV, 6 ITV1 regions and the Irish C4s.- the free to view channels.

It does not affect any of the other 200 plus free ot air tv channels, so you will not lose any others.

you can get them from sky.com/replacecard - and order a cardfor £20 to a UK address, who then post it to you, you put it into your sky box, give the box deatils (Services, 4, 5) to your UK freind to call sky and activate the card.

or pay for a card over here - expect to pay anyything from 100 to 195 euros (yes someone was quoted 195 for this type of card!) - better to go for a sky 1 mix tv package and get 30plus other channels for that price!)

it is old news, freesatfromsky cards (maybe not ex subscriptionc ard tho!) should have been flashing messages on the screen since ocotber that your card will be deactivating soon...

Weird. If you have a blue freesatfomsky card then you will lose 6 ITV1 regions, Fiver Five USA and a few others.....

It may not happen straight away, and if you have lost them due to your card being deactivated then you will get tthe "Programme not available" message on the screen.
Any other message and it is something else, not the card...

When you say "6 ITV1 regions" - which ones will these be? We get ITV West because that's where we got the card. Will we lose this? As long as I get ITV1 from somewhere - I'm not too bothered if it's not West.

No.
ITV1 West is a free to air channel and does not need a sky viewing card to watch it (you will also have access to ITV1 London on channel 993 - (it tends to be a bit stonger than the ITV1 West frequency) and all the ITV2,3,4 which also do not need a card)

But if you boot up a Sky box without a sky card then you 101 wil default to BBC 1 London, 103 will default to ITV Central.

The 6 ITV1 regions that do require a sky card to view are on frequency 12402 and are:
Meridan South East
Meridian North
Anglia West
Yorkshire East
Tyne Tees South
Central SW

Thanks the guy you are superguay

Just one more little question....if we get it sent to someone in the uk (hoping this is not a stupid question...) do they need to have a current contract with sky? and if so, would that affect them if they wanted to get a white card themselves?

thanks again!

The SKy subscription database and the FSFS database are totally serperate.
You can have up to 4 freesatfromsky card at a UK address.
You can only have one subscription contract at one address (or so they say).
so it does not matter if you are ordering FSFS cards using an address already using a Sky sub....
or if you are ordering a fsfs card that does not have a sky contract...you could have sourced a dish (from B&Q even!) and sky box (from fleabay) at that address yourself

How do would sky know if you have fitted another LNB onto your dish and added extra boxes (obtain from ebay for example) at your UK address......they dont!!!
