interesting thread...i have escourted a few english people to our local police station to get their N.I.E's , mainly because they didnt speak the lingo.
however, my friend from canada is moving over here in a couple of weeks time, and i was just wondering that as canada is not in the EU will it be any different applying for her N.I.E?

Depends if your office has 2 queues or just one. Some have one for EU citizens and one for others. IF yours has 2 then the EU citizen can be in and out in 5 mins. If it just has one then you can wait for hours. I assume she will also have to produce additional paperwork such as a visa obtained at a Spanish consulate in Canada unless she is travelling on a British passport.
