Problem with barking dog
Recently returned from 1st visit of the year to our duplex in Esuri. As always golf, food and weather were brill .. makes paying the monthly bills at little easier.
The only downside was the constant barking from a dog - the dog in question appears to be tied up from 07:00 to gone midnight, and barks non-stop. Its owners go out for the day, tie the dog up and make life miserable for the rest of the residents (never mind the poor dog). Our guests the previous week were also subjected to the constant barking, so it was not a one-off .. ideas are welcome on how to resolve this problem... Alandeve (M2) |

Talk to the president, he should of put a clause in the community rules "no pets allowed in apartments"
I think I would bark too if I was tied up all day. |

There are two dogs that live at the villa by the 8th tee on the new east course and they bark at every passerby or golfer and the advice I have received from Spanish people is to denounce them.
A friend of mine, on holiday week before last, was bitten by one of the said dogs. The owner opened the gate, with the bigger dog on a lead, the other one ran out and attacked drawing blood. Had to go to the clinic for a tetanus jab! Not a nice experience on holiday. Beware!!! Regards Teflon. |

I think I would bark too if I was tied up all day. in a Residencial where we used to rent, an english family (also renters) would leave 4 little 'rats' on the 1st floor balcony barking, weeing & pooing all day the president of the commitee spoke to the owner of the apartment who told them that according to the 'rules' a) they could only have 2 dogs, & b) that they couldn't leave them out all day they were given 2 weeks to comply they left............... |

Besides that, you can not judge all the dogs just for the bad behavior of one owner. Its him who cant live there, not the dogs and belive me, there are a lot of people who make more noise than dogs :). marisol |

Re: Problem with barking dog
Fine, and leaving dogs tied up on balconies etc., not fine, but to denounce an owner because their dog barks at passers by on a golf course?
Bizarre. |

I think this is the only time we disagree, isnt it? :( |
Re: Problem with barking dog
The no dogs rule never works in Spain. I agree with marisol too sometimes the owners are the problem. I have heard of a lot of worse problems than dogs in apartments. I do agree that barking dogs are a pain, wouldn't like to have to put up with them.

Re: Problem with barking dog
There's no such thing as a bad dog - just a bad owner.
Have they not seen the Dog Whisperer? |

Rocco is lovely and well cared for and you would not dream of leaving him tied up outside or just locked outside all day, unlike the people across the road who I think are the ones in question. :) hope to see you and Fer soon. |

I was reading these posts and was going to write exactly the same, We are like Marisol and Fer and love our dogs but to love them is not enough as we all agree. You have to walk, play, feed and care for them...that to a dog is love. To leave them for ages is shameful, I feel sorry for the dogs and very angry with the owners. I know the dogs John is talking about too, they can really startle you ! We also had the builders "guard" (poor frightened little pooch he was) dog by us at one time barking most of the time and left in the heat without water, my son was buying food and taking water for him and giving him a fuss and (bless them) a lovely couple who live on our Manzana just took him from the workers to walk him. We shouldn't not allow dogs though, if I was ever a permanent resident I would certainly have dogs (well cared for, trained and certainly no poops left any where) however I do have sympathy for those troubled by a constantly barking dogs.... but it's not their fault berate the lazy, selfish owners owners - Grrrr !! Out to CE very soon - wish I could take our dogs they would love a run on the beaches there ....YES, I would have my pooper scooper with me. Mel |

Roco dreams with it, he moves his legs as he were running while he is sleeping, so your dogs are going to have a very good time when you go with them to CE. What we should do its to denounce these people instead of blaming their dogs for barking. Anyway, if you have near your home a boy who spends all the day shouting, nobody thinks about forbidding children, you just have to put up with it. Well, writing in English is very difficult for me and maybe it may seem as if i didnt mind people who have to stand the noise and the barking, i know that it can be unbearable. If i could speak in Spanish i would be able to say what i really think about it, but im sure that my opinion wouldnt be very different to yours, i know how nice you are and how much you love dogs ;) un abrazo, marisol |

Bless your heart Marisol, everyone on here would agree that your English (spoken and written) is excellent and you often add humour to your posts and catch on so quickly to the jokes people make. I wish my Spanish was 1/4 as good, I can't credit myself with anywhere near a 1/2 as good....still going to the lessons which I enjoy. Called at Josh's to see Isabella( 3 months now !) but have to give their dogs all the attention first ! Just back from a walk with our two, our neighbours dog and met up with friends and their dogs - we had a 5 all racing around a field. Wish we had taken a bottle of chilled wine as it is a lovely evening. Is Sam still collecting stray dogs on CE do you know ? Hope to see you soon...any chance you are there 1st week July ? Take care my friend Mel x
I just was with a friend yesterday, she had found a "galgo" in the dictionary is "greyhound". She was trying to drink water from a fountain. She had marks in her neck as if she had had a tighten rope around it and she was so frightened. She looked at you whenever she made anything to see if you were going to beat her. She is so nice. If i could i would take her with me but i dont know if roco would be his friend. Really, i fell in love with her. She is so elegant, so beautiful. my friend has two little boys and she didnt find anybody to take care of the dog so she is thinking about adopting her. If so, she is going to be very happy . The last time in CE we had a barbeque with some friends and among them there were Benito, Sam and their little dog. He is really funny :) marisol |

where we used to live the english residents complained bitterly all summer about the noise the kids made - & used my kids to translate to the the spanish kids:( we've alreadt been warned that an english resident where we are now will complain aout the slightest problem - including kids enjoying themselves - but not to the spanish as he can't speak the language - so I'm guessing the same will happen here :frown: |

Out of interest - just how do you go about denouncing an inconsiderate dog-owner?
