It's quite normal, when we signed on the padron the previous owners hadn't signed off, so a couple of days later we had the police round to check that we were the only people living there, ad when we had outside alterations done we had several drive bys by the police,

Nothing remotely like that here, many towns do not have Policia Local, we have one where I live. No Trafico, no Policia National. We must live in different worlds.

When we built our house in the Campo the only time anyone came round they asked to see our licence. We just pointed them to the big board outside which had all the details of the build and the licence number. They were not the police, just people from the town hall. The police usually only get involved if the town hall ask them to take action.
It did happen to a neighbour who did not have the correct licence for what he was building ( a house when the licence said it was a tool shed) and the police came and sealed it with blue and white tape!

It is good to see more checking which hopefully will reduce the illegal building.

Our Ayuntamiento contracted a helicopter pilot to take pictures. He was an enterprising lad and offered framed aerial photos to the residents. I have it hanging on my wall.

there are many illegal homes and empty shells ,you have to have 10,000 sq mtrs too build anew house, they are very very strict here.
