Default Please Help Tax Office Question

My parents sold their property in Torrevieja in 2013 and moved back to the UK because my dad was seriously ill and has now been classed as terminal

They had paid a deposit of 4400 euros to the Tax Office in Alicante to cover any taxes that were left behind, the deposit was meant to be held for 12 months only

I have had to deal with things now due to the serious ill health of both my parents, the solicitor they had been dealing with in Alicante stopped responding to emails and i do not have international calling on my phone

I found out today that as of October last year (2014) they owed the Spanish Tax Office 1348.67 euros in supposed tax owed (my parents claim they had settled everything) and this is the reason the deposit was held up

My parents are in no condition to be arguing the fee and just want the remaining balance back, approx 3050 euros

But my question is (finally, sorry for long winded explanation).... Will the Spanish Tax Office have been adding on interest since that figure in October last year OR will that still be the figure owed so they can release the rest of their deposit back them ?

Thank you kindly in advance for any information or support that can be passed my way

I am sure that someone with the right knowledge will soon post an answer for you. So sorry to hear about your parents suffering and the distress that paperwork causes.
