Default Pillion passenger or not?

Not that I necessarily want or need to but does anybody know the rules appertaining to carrying a pillion passenger on a 125cc scooter ridden by virtue of an A1 entitlement on a basic B group car driving licence.

I'm guessing that it requires group A but not sure.

it's a French licence if that makes any difference and yes, I'm aware that I'll have to exchange that for a Spanish one in due course.

I don't think there's a restriction - you can carry a passenger.

It used to be the case that youngsters couldn't carry a passenger on their scooters (until a certain age), anyway, that is no longer the case - they can take passengers at any age.
