I have never bought a copy of the News of the World, thought it was a crap paper. This week I realised they also did a lot of good campaigns and exposures which were useful for the general public.
I am not saying that tapping phones is ok. just that all the newspapers use dubious methods...hey they can get someones credit card details within hours. Do you think the Telegraph managed to expose the MP's expenses scandal without resorting to these practices?
Can anyone tell me who else was in the bidding for BSKYB
I have been ignoring stories on it before this week

What happened to the Data Protection Registrar who turned into the Information Commissioner in all this. This is in his court as well. The only thing that seems to miss it is Mulcair's hand written notes.

They also own News International - which is the UK newspaper publishing arm. News Corp wanted to by the remaining shared of BSkyB.
No one else was in the running, and I am sure the 39% News Corp owns would block anyone else taking full ownership. And it has a special place in Rups heart as it was their first "Sky TV" group.
They are merging their 6 genres of programmes into just 2.
People may find they get a lot more channels for the price they are paying in the first year. Then the next year they will have to pay for the 2 packs, probably meaning an increase in your sub, and get channels that they dont really want, with no option to opt out of "No kids channels" if you dont want them (if I understand this correctly!)
It was all in the latest Sky magazine, and on their website, and on a lot of internet forums... They have not had a shuffe around of channels for a fair number of years...

As I understood it from earlier reports it was always considered a bit of a hostile takeover anyway...

well at this moment Rupe is buying up company shares to reduce their market volatility.
didn't he hear about Alan Sugar buying up all his company shares and making it private because the shares dropped when Spurs lost a game and caused his name to be mentioned in the press ? ?
(before anyone has a go I know it was more than that but that is a start)
Still he did pay $400mill + for his daughters business a little while ago so there must be some money there........ oh no it wasn't him it was NC that paid for that

Millipede and Cameron simply jumped on his wouldbe popularity bandwagon.
I recall Vince Cable declaring open warfare on the Murdochs shortly after gaining office, only to be strangely and quickly moved on to a different dept.
Regarding Sky increasing their already exorbitant prices any further this year, they likely realized it would be self defeating at a time when ppl are feeling the pinch and are moving to other options such as the internet.
Problem is that Sky already control far too much of what comes into our living rooms and the question should now be asked are they fit and proper to have the degree of control they already have.
The number of repeats under the guise of different channels is astronomical and much of the rest is garbage anyway.
The very narrow spectrum of news Sky covers between breaks, which in any event tends to be mirrored exactly by the BBC whose weather forecasts and prog announcements are fixed to coincide with the ads., is pathetic, compared to that in other countries.
I find the Spanish news channels to be far superior in every respect, covering many more issues with opinions from the whole world and his wife.

Not looking good for him in the US now, did his news network access 9/11 victims phone records? If they did imagine the reaction to that little bombshell!

Maybe democracy isn't completely dead in the UK considering that the two issues which have most outraged the public have at least brought about a fairy rapid and positive response.

This whole, sickening saga of press, politics and police reminds me of a visit to a rescued dogs compound. I was astounded to see a large number of dodgy looking dogs walking around in an ever-moving circle, sniffing each others bums.

Nice to see that the pressure is still on and if anything building up even more on the Murdochs.
They were requested to appear at a hearing of MPs and refused, so they have now been served a summons !
Investigations now beginning in Australia as well as the UK and USA.
