Default Pension credits for dependants and the unemployed

Hi. Does anyone know if my social security payments (national insurance) also cover some sort of credit towards my (dependant) husbands pension. He's been unemployed 3 yrs but may well be starting as an autonomo later this year. What happens about those 3 years? He has had access to the national health system because of being my dependant but what happens about his Spanish pension?(a good few years away) I realise a large part of his pension will be payable by the UK.
