and it's not a dodgy sim
I've had it for years & can't remember if they even asked for documentation when we bought the phone
wouldn't they at least send a text or something to tell me to register
movistar manage to send me texts for just about everything else

that's what I'm hoping - I've got absolutely no signal at all
and it's not a dodgy sim

I've had the same number since the day I moved here and it still works fine, It was first on vodafone then I moved the number to movistar which meant giving all my details so I should be ok?

I'm guessing just turn it off & on again?
I never turn it off cos I can't remember now if it needs a pin & if it does what it is

Do a scan for available networks (probably under phone settings / networks). If it doesn't come up with Movistar, but it comes up with other networks, then the network is probably down.

looks like the re boot had a delayed reaction?
you say you've been getting that 'message' about sim registration - have you done anything about it?

I have a a holiday home in Costa Blanca and use a Spanish Vodafone Sim, I notice in the Coastrider newspaper as of October Unregistered Spanish Mobile numbers will be cut off. Unless you register your passport and Padron. I dont live full time in Spain so have no Padron. I guess I'm up the * creek without a paddle.
and will have no phone after October

I've been using a vodafone sim for the last 3 years, I assume I need to go to a vodafone shop and register it.
Anyone know if the Torrevieja Carrefour Vodafone store would do the job?
Thanks

The DNI card carried by Spaniards provides their current address ie where they are empadronado. Our passport does not. So, if the assistant is vigilant she should ask those without DNI to provide proof of current Spain address (don't know if utility bills are ok but you'd need empadronomiento anyway to have those)
I'm not sure that last bit's right, we didn't get empadronamiento til a while after buying the house & had bills fairly rapidly - plus Sevillana bills continued to carry both my name & the name of the legal representative of the previous owner UNTIL I went in and applied to have a proper Bulletin - ie system check - which then entitled me to have the power supply in my name.
I find you have to provide NIE, passport, inside leg etc for virtually every utility/government/health activity anyway!
