I'm pretty much decided that it isnt for us (altho we could change our minds lol!?)! My son, at 15 needs to continue on the path he's taking, he's half way thru his IGCSE course and I think I would need to know that if he changed schools it would be to gain IBs at 18! My daughter may well be suited to this new school, but sadly practicalities take over and I couldnt get them to or from their respective schools at the right times

Thats a bit tight then, cos I assume there would be utility bills, cleaners, equipment loans, insurances etc. etc....... Not to mention dividends to the "share holders"

Also, 500 students between 25 teachers is 20 per class. Not that big, but that assumes that all teachers are teaching all of the time. Students may work shorter hours than the teachers, I suppose, but then I assume that one of the biggest draws of this school is meant to be the convenient childcare it provides for workers at the PTA - ie you drop your kids off and pick them up on your way to and from work.

And that figure reduces if there are lots of siblings and children of PTA workers with discounts.

Doesn't affect me, but I'd be put off by something that appears too low in price. Worse than paying too much imo.

I've got the price list infront of me, its quite complicated:

Reception 390€
primary 430€
secondary 454€
high 474€

Lunches 8€ a day (heck they can take a packed lunch!!), extra curricular activities range between 30 - 80€ a month and there is morning and evening supervision clubs(childcare) 30€ "hour monthly" is says?

Then there are: school insurance, medical care, psychological cabinet, fungible goods which are around 300€ for 6 months??????????

It is a NEW school. They have to make it attractive to the parents. Parents have to be given a reason to take a chance with this school over the other more established schools. So, they are trying to differentiate by price.

Based on current fees and 500 students the investors are making 27K a year. But, as anybody who has ever run a business knows, it takes time to get it off the ground. I am sure these investors are not expecting a return on their investment the first year. That is not how businesses work.

Five years down the line the school doubles their fees because it is established and there is a waiting list of students to join. The investors are now making over 50K a year. The sums begin adding up don't they?

I think he is, it seems a good business opportunity, if I were a teacher I'd give it serious thought! But I'm not sure I'll send my children there

Hi very interesting reading what you are all saying about this new school, I have a daughter who is 15 in 3rd year spanish school, we moved here when she was 10, she does very well in school but Iam concerned about her future regarding qualifications, this school looks very impressive, not so keen on the SB sytem but would be seriously interested if she could have got the IB by the time she was 18. After my daughter has finished 4th year I was thinking about taking her out and paying for her to take maybe 3 A levels. I think the IB or A levels would be better as she doesnt want to make her career in spain she would rather move to UK or maybe USA, thats what she says at the moment but who knows 15 year olds!!! I think if my daughter had been younger I would have given this school a chance it does look very impressive.
My daughters spanish is very good, but obviously as the work gets harder she finds it harder. Its her English grammar that needs to be improved now as well. I will keep my eye on this school they sent me the fees the other day, I am sure eventually they will go up in price. The person who sent the email back to me also said that the school follows the spanish curriculum but the work would be done in English!! therefore your daugters grammar would improve greatly. I look forward to reading any other comments.

Yes as Lynnxa says, the Spanish qualifications are recognised all over the world. The exams they take at 16 are equivalent to GCSEs and the ones taken at 17-18 equivalent to A-levels. My OH is Spanish and has had no problem in the UK with her Spanish qualifications.

If your daughter left school at the end of this year she wouldnt be able to do A-levels as she hasnt got any qualifacations yet. She'd need to do 2 years of GCSEs first.
