They don't even say that in the States any more. Much.

Next thing you know they'll be trotting out the one about how black people are afraid of dogs because dogs were used to hunt them down when they were slaves.

Of course, and Catalans are Spanish. There are some Scots who want independence the same as some Catalans do. But Iniesta, Xavi etc wear their Spain shirts with pride.

Yeh, get the idea.
Wonder if it ever crosses their tiny minds, that without the Catalans who don't consider themselves to be Spanish at all and likely never will, Spain would probably not even have won an eggcup, never mind the world cup.

Actually, the posts following the same article make that very point, quite forcibly. The men's hockey squad only had one non Catalan, and I think they had around 7 or 8 (?) in the World Cup winning squad. The Catalan hockey player Fábregas admitted he only plays for Spain because he has no other option.

There does seem to be some evidence about the bone mass, though of course there might be other factors.

Biological differences exist in the body composition of blacks and whites. We reviewed literature on the differences and similarities between the 2 races relative to fat-free body mass (water, mineral, and protein), fat patterning, and body dimensions and proportions. In general, blacks have a greater bone mineral density and body protein content than do whites, resulting in a greater fat-free body density.

Not wishing to turn this onto a political discussion, but the difference is that the Scots are being given the opportunity of being independent and doing their own thing as they prefer.

The Catalans are NOT,..........and from what information I've seen they'd be happy to have their freedom and full independence tomorrow.

They certainly would, along with País Vasco and even Andalucia.

If they do find life on Mars, we won't have the problem of agonising over which country our sportsmen represent on this little planet called earth.

A 100 metres run on the red planet could finish before it started.

Not sure if a Mars Olympics will ever be possible, but one on the Moon could be very interesting with its gravitational pull only a quarter of the earths.

Could probably toddle of for a cup of coffee while waiting for the high jumper or pole vaulter to come back down.

But who are they comparing to who? Joe Bloggs on the street, or world class athletes? I mean athletes always have lower body fat and higher-density bones (physical stress/exercise strengthens bones) than the rest of the population. Unless they are suomo wrestlers of course....

Off to work, haven't got time to read the article, sorry.

One theory is that it's just psychological. We expect them to dominate and they expect to dominate so they do!

Interesting!

SOME Catalans. SOME Scots. Please stop lumping people together as if they are all of one mind.

Not true, they do polls about this regularly

Those who want independance are very much in the minority in Cataluna and the Basque country e.g.

In any case the Spanish regions have more autonomy than even the states of the USA. Part of the reason why Spain is in an economic mess, the Catalans and Valencians have hardly handled their autonomy responsibly

Then how often would the Yanks be able to hold their Miss Universe contest and who would they invite?
