Must say though I have my concerns about the opening ceremony
Credit where credits due, apart from the G4S fiasco, the UK powers that be appear to have done a decent job to get everything prepared and up and running in good time.

I think much of the concern,my own included, relates to the sad corrupt track record of the Olympic organisation itself, which despite claims to the contrary, still appears to have done little to clean up its act.

Oh don't get me wrong, the Olympics itself is completely screwed to the wall, the over commercialisation and rampant greed sickens me, it is everything thats wrong with the world, its greedy bankers and hedgefunders combined and multiplied tenfold, its wanton capitalism with an extra corrupt edge and given that so many of the contracts have been given to overseas companies I will be glad if we never host it ever again, but we have and if we are ALL honest, we've done a pretty outstanding job. We have approached it in a British manner and produced something that will amaze and impress in its scale and finish and all I think of is the hard graft and dedication the athletes have put into the spirit of the games. The sport is all that matters to me right now and until it ends in September I will focus on that, once its over we can all sling shit.

Take them out and shoot them! One 22mm round, back of head. Problem solved; little cost.

Got caught in my first Olympic traffic jam yesterday. Many sets of traffic lights have been re-phased to help the flow of traffic to the Olympic park, causing problems in surrounding areas. I was about 3 miles from the Park
Rush hours should be fun! Parts of the east London will be gridlocked.
Fortunately I can avoid those areas or travel by train.

Worth a few weeks of inconvenience though.

Have just been woken up by firstly a loud firework display in the distance followed by a helicopter passing directly over the house.
Hope this is not going to be a nightly occurence during the Olympics!

Thursday, Friday, Saturday we had "events" and cinema in the park, the bar closed about 3am.
perhaps they were celebrating the Spanish team arriving in London ??

So what will be the excuse for 4 days of Jazz Festival ??

but no helicopter

Big bother already I see with the North Korean ladies football team.

They refused to kick off and walked off the pitch in Glasgow after the South Korean flag was shown next to their names.

It's about the equivalent of showing the US flag over the Russian team, or maybe even worse than that.
Certainly know how to rub folk up the wrong way, those Glaswegians.

I watched 5 minutes of it.
That was more than enough for me.
Now if they'd turned out in hot pants or thongs as Seb Blatter suggested,I might even have stretched the 5 minutes to 10.
