Re: Oliva anyone there???
so they are making the new road link, from the roundabout by the new hospital (your palm tree roundabout), down past the new hospital and its car parking area, down past the back of la vital, down to that diamus junction, and down to the port area (with a lot of work near the camping at the grau also...)
thus a new road totally bypassing the carrefour area...which gets jammed often...
the other works mitzy mentioned are indeed drainage (no idea where it is being drained to tho!)... hope it all gets finished before gota fria time.......

that new rounddabout is long overdue. its a terriable junction and rarely a week goes by without a bad accident there. i belive the go ahead was given after a rather nasty one last year (according to the village gossip!)

i would have thought the bypass would go from gandia, around bellreguard, around palmera, between rafelcofer and a de comtesa, folow along the ap7 thru to the other side of oliva.
but then some residents say they want it all under ground, or tunnelled, or gardens on top so their view is not spoilt...
and every one says make the ap7 from xeraco to denia free...
this was in one of the rags earlier this year..

A CHEAPER option needs to be found for the Oliva bypass to avoid having to wait until 2024 for work to start, says mayoress Chelo Escrivá.
The plans approved in 2008 for the N-332 ringroad between El Verger and Gandia running alongside the AP-7 motorway are now 'unrealistic' given the central and regional governments' poor financial situation, Escrivá reveals.
And Spain's minister for Public Works, Ana Pastor, announced recently that she would 'reconsider' both the bypass and the Dénia-Gandia rail-link in her 2024 budget.
Only a token sum, totalling less than a million euros for both projects, has been allocated out of this year's State funds.
Work on the bypass was originally set to begin next year.

Re: Oliva anyone there???
It doesnt actually make sense though if it is, because it's not being built in the same way as others Ive seen and it would indicate huge floods because of the size of it. Also the base has been reinforced and its also running through the base of road bridge supports
Where are they expecting the water to come from, as the edges are raised, almost looks like from the serpis, but thats lower down!

Re: Oliva anyone there???
its what i was told by someone in rafelcofer...
it looks too small for a road and cars, especially the small bridge / tunnel between almoies and beniarjo that has just been made...
and it does run to the serpis....you can even see the works on googleearth...

This shows the proposed by-pass and rail extension from Gandia.

Re: Oliva anyone there???
Just back from Oliva.
It never ceases to amaze me how green the region remains even through the heat and dryness of the summer.
As you go South it very quickly becomes arid and makes you realise what a plus that is.
