thats good cos over here in the big city to the East all the banks have signs at the door and on the tills saying they will only do impuesto's (of all types not just NIE/Residencia) in the first two hours of operation daily.
went with the BH and had a bill to pay, were shunted around until latched on to a kindly middle aged lady who understood we didnt speak Spanish to the level required and took the payment at 11.45.

one advantage of living in the hills, the local banks just treat it as doing a service for a customer - whatever happened to customer service in the big city's??

I eventually got my NIE card in HUelva. The police department wanted a photocopy of every page of my passport, including all the blank pages? And paying took ages, 1 clerk in bank 21 people in front of me. I also opened a bank account with Sol Bank so a very successful trip. Now just to sign. Xx

We have a NIE which was done at the same time as buying - I thought this was a necessity for buying a place.

Anyhow we have an NIE number each. But no card, just an A4 paper. I don't think I need the card itself once I have the paper. Never needed an actual card since.

Are we talking the same thing i.e the A4 paper and the Card please?

You know you are OK if this good ole boy tells you so! If you are not resident and you are not you only need the NIE number you fiscal number and it is good for life. You like us will have got this on an A4 white sheet of paper. Residence which you do not need comes on a green A4 sheet with I understand a credit card push out bit. Ours was to early for that but we have not needed to use it so no loss.
