It's possible they haven't informed Newcastle that they don't live in the UK any more. I know people in this area who go back to the UK for ongoing medical treatment and haven't lived there for years. When we accessed healthcare in Spain, via the E106, we had to de-register with our UK GP.

We had a letter to say (quote) 'If you, or any of your dependents, come back to the UK on a visit you will only be entitled to NHS medical treatment if you fall ill or have an accident during the visit'. This letter came with the E121.

Probably, but they are 'people I know' not friends. It really p@**$s me off to be honest and I have said so many times. Also I get really cross when those who are not entitled to NHS care in the Uk, as they've lived in Spain so many years, say 'Well I paid in all my life but I can't go back for treatment'.
