Newbies
Just thought I would introduce us, me Graham the boss Rosemary. We moved to Corbera, 30 Kms south of Valencia last year. My work was shipped off to India so we decided to take early retirement. After the last fifteen years spent in the middle of an estate in Eastbourne, waking up each morning looking up at our view of the castle is rather refreshing to say the least.
Rosemary is into crafts I seem to be into renovating two bathrooms like it or not. Are the Spaniards always so friendly? We were lucky if we had a grudging "morning" from our neighbours in Eastbourne here it's bon dia from virtually everyone that passes. Our ration of oranges arrive once or twice a week and then yesterday a neighbour arrived with armsful of kale. I know everyone says give it two years then decide but so far it is looking good. regards |

Re: Newbies
Big Pete,
What is kale? It is a brassica, delicious if you like cabbage type greens but the armful that we were given boiled to a few tablespoonsful. What do we miss? Rosemary,(the Boss), says lemon meringue pie, clotted cream, She is from Devon. Family and friends obviously. Chatting, our Spanish is not up to this level yet and we are the only English living here. We did not watch much tv in England so that is not a problem. Ten minutes on this reply so far and we are struggling. We cannot think of anything else that is important, we have been here seven months and so far appears to be one of the best decisions we have made. Today in our little town of 3077 inhabitants we have watched a parade in full fallas regalia, the road blocked for dancing, bangers and fireworks at least 10/12 times including I might add during dinner. Compare this to the silence we lived in back in England and this is why we are so happy here. I am now a regular pain in the rear end to people back in England, they must be sick and tired of hearing about the day to day life in Corbera. Electrical engineering was my background until it moved to India. Do I miss it NO. |
