There's almost no chance that any publisher would accept a manuscript from a first time author (there are so many of them). Plus, the fees you get would be a pittance - you'd be unlikely to even make minimum wage for the amount of time you put in. Also it would be well over a year before it got published and even longer before the publisher sent you your cheque for a couple of quid.

That sounds heartfelt.....something you want to tell us?

& I still don't quite understand the coger confusion. What's the Argentine Castejano comparison got to do with it? Coger around here is Coher phonetically speaking...?

Yeah, but if you read the post again, the Argies call their dialect Castejano (Castellano but the Y is pronounced like an English "J") hence my confusion, or theirs more to the point.

Coger in Argentine and Coger in Spanish mean two different things.....

One is to "get" the other to f**k..... now my lovely, would you like me to explain what a f**k is?

hmm.... oh in UK for two weeks, you might have to...

I understood that bit just fine, didn't (still don't but don't fret I'll leave it as one of life's little mysteries) understand what the difference in pronunciation made to the anecdote.
Maybe I'll have to google!

When my son was doing his oral Spanish Gcse, which was being recorded, to be sent of to Cambridge, he made that error. Needless to say he had the person who was recording it in hysterics.

Re: New life in Spain

I think I've got to the bottom of it - it was a double whammy, old friend (all euphemisms intended...)
coger - yes we know.
yegua - mare and also whore, in L.Am according to my dictionary... so perchance you weren't a horse f**ker you were a whore f**ker!!!!!!

told you it wasn't the pronunciation rofl (note to self, find out why smilies aren't working)
