Default new airport charges in the UK

Luton airport is going to charge 1GBP for people to drop passengers at the terminal! Charge to come into effect sometime after April 29th. This is in addition to the 1 quid charge for trolleys, 1 quid for the clear plastic bags for liquids and 3 quid to jump the security queue. And people though Ryanair were bad?

What, just to drop? God and we thought Bristol was bad at about £2.50 for 10 minutes or so in shortstay...... and Norwich (which has now lost Spanish destinations because....) they charge £5 for simply being a departing passenger

3 quid to jump the security queue, how does that work? Is it legal?

Never seen fast track security in Bristol, thanks for the tip. I'll stick to the queue, it's fun watching for worried faces

If you're dropping off, it's no problem - pull in, turf passengers out, cursory farewell & be on your way. Bristol? No chance - you have to go in the shortstay car park which I believe costs if you're there for more than about 10 minutes.
However picking up at Stansted costs, and how..... thankfully I don't know how much it cost cos I was the one being picked up, but you have no option but to go to the pickup point, which is in a barriered car park so you have to pay on exit, I think it was again about £2.50.

At Luton there will be a barrier at the end of the drop off lane, and it will cost a quid to get past.

Very good point - a variation on what I was wondering when my (then) 15 year old daughter flew on her own from Norwich just when they brought in a £5 fee for every departing passenger. If she hadn't had the money on her what then?
