Nationwide free debit card to charge now!

Re: Nationwide free debit card to charge now!
Seems that I now have another problem. I have informed Nationwide that I intend to close the account and transfer all of the funds to another bank. I was informed, rather snottily, that I will not be allowed to do this because, according to their information, I only have two addressess and both are in Spain. Without a UK adress I cannot open a new UK bank account. The little grey cells are now devising how to get round this. Perhaps tomorrow?
It's true to say that in general you cant always open a bank account in the UK when you are no longer a resident there. There are a few banks that do it I believe, and have been mentioned on here before.
You need a UK address.
I recently opened a bank account with Santander in the UK. It wasn't easy, and it involved a UK limited company being set up. I'm still not a signatory though. I have to go to a Santander bank and get documents stamped, to then take to the UK and lodge with them there!

This is the first I have heard of this. I use my Nationwide credit card to pay for anything in euros.

Nationwide credit card will stay the same
Nationwide's specialist travel credit cards are not changing. They will still be load-free for European travel, with a 1% load for worldwide currency.
On top of this, you'll be charged around 2% per month interest on cash withdrawals even if you repay the card in full, and a 2.5% fee each time you use an ATM.
