Mozzie bites......

A question for all of us Mozzie fodder out there. Where have you been bitten, that was the most annoying. I remember once being bitten on my eyelid, terrible place to scratch.:thumbdown::thumbdown:

I imagine your OH was forced to apply his special cream to stop the itch, and discourage unsightly swelling?

Tip to ward of mozzies

If your`e a bit of a mozzie magnet like myself,I found a great product from A**n(ding dong)called Skin So Soft is brilliant,I used it when trout fishing in the Lake District and it did the job brilliantly, also works as an aftersun moisturizer. Not very expensive either....

4 euros doesnt sound a lot for protection. Eating and drinking anything with yeast in it (Marmite, live beer) is a long standing way to ward the little blighters off but in the house I find it necessary to keep at least 2 infusers on the go at this time of year and outside burn the anti-mossie coils such as Moskil or the equivalent which has recently become available here in Spain. If away from home the rub on stick in the yellow and red plastic pack seems to work fairly well but dont miss out the sensitive spots, cos they will bite where you miss.

Difficult one that jdr. Thought bees could only sting once as the sting remained in your flesh and they died. Maybe it was 2 bees you trod on (mass murderer you !) or the first one was only a little prick and then he got you better second time around.

Yeah thats what I thought as they have barbed stingers and the poisen sack gets ripped out and they die, but I def had two marks and only one dead body.

Seems very strange they don't mention Spain, I get the most terrible large itchy bump when they get me, I don't live far from the Delta and they come from the rice fields, if these blighter's ever took hold it would be a nightmare for the rice farmers who work in the fields, and for the tourists who come to see the various wild birds in the Delta nature reserve. :eek:You could always spot a Brit before I lived here they would be the ones complete red legs to the front and loads of mossie bites at the rear. We don't see a great many Brits here like down South they are in the main Swiss , French and German in third then the Brits,You never tend to see them covered in bites I think they must like Us. So not a lot of Newcastle United shirts on Display more your Ralph Lauren or Lacoste and in 3 years I have only seen one drunk walking the street and he was Spanish The police would come down on them hard if it started to get out of hand. The same Major has been in place 14 years and he likes his town clean and tidy. A plane now sprays the Delta every morning from 8am until about 12 noon for 4 months He has started about two weeks ago as they flooded the paddie fields and the rice has taken off just showing above the water. In September after the Harvest the fields are drained and levelled off by tractor ready for another year there is only one harvest here I think they may have two in Valencia.

The article may not mention Spain but tiger mossies have been around in Cataluña now for a while and the authorities are waiting for the spread down the coast. Noticeably the shops are more and more selling mossie stuff "effective against tiger mosquitos" which I didnt see last year.
