10MB download, 3MB burst upload, telephone with up to 500 mins of free calls....43.99 Euros.

Back in 2005 we were paying Telefonica 65 Euros for 1MB down, 320kbs up, and phone.

Back in 05 you got a lot more wonga to the pound though !

Never heard of this box or that service, does not appear in current sales catalogue so.....................go online and access

http://www.filmon.com/tv/dave

and watch UK TV until your heart is content, if you have a laptop you can probably cable it into the TV.

2nd suggestion find someone Spanish who can talk to Movistar and see if that service is available...........I would be surprised I thought all their TV services were via fibre optic on a monthly fee basis.

You can buy any regular android TV box for as little as €60 which is effectively an android smartphone connected to your TV in HD - but without the phone.

Hook it up, open the play store, install the filmon, youtube, iPlayer etc. apps, and you're finished. No expensive box, no monthly fees.

Internet TV isn't nearly as simple nor delivers the quality of satellite, but if you have no other choice...

You do have a choice.

I watch BBC, ITV and C4 in full HD using the Intelsat 907 satellite with a 80cm dish.

Perfect quality, no Internet connection involved and less that €300 installed and no monthly charge.

There is no guarantee that it will be available forever, but it's a good immediate solution.

It has been discussed on this thread

http://britishexpats.com/forum/ayamo...annels-847927/

If you want to discuss it further, post on that thread as it is a bit off topic here as it does not involve Movistar.

Canal+ Have a good deal at the moment, for those who only have crappy movistar lines, I think the deal may end today but its only 10€ a month for 4 months.

Recomendación: Todos los paquetes - CANAL+

Re: Movistar - More services, same money

I´ve been with Movistar for a year on the "Fusion" deal.
My bills haven´t been tallying so was perplexed to see charges each day to "MOVILZIO"
This is a fraudulent use of the number according to google though Movistar claim the charges relate to text messages (I don´t use text) I´ve been sending.
This was on the back of charges received for UK numbers (I don´t dial the UK from my mobile) Movistar claim I´ve been dialing.
I´ve since blocked cancelled my contract and am waiting for a response from Movistar factura section.

Sorry you have had problems with Movistar - obviously we all speak as we find and experience.

I have nothing but praise for Movistar, they set up my first system efficiently, I used the online fault service when I had an intermittent ADSL problem which they resolved, and offered me the switch to Fusion with TV which was handled very easily (I visited their local shop who were very helpful) with the installation happening in under 2 days with a very cheerful engineer and I have never had billing problems.

This is the list of available TV channels with their basic TV service (more available at extra cost)

Particulares > Movistar TV > Canales TV

Well someone has to be lucky with Movistar!

I think very unfair you can get all that but if your not in the area you have to pay the same or more for just a line and upto 10mb............but like I said to others, should have checked that before you moved.

If you saw there black friday deal, it was quite a good one 100mb, TV, phone
and more for 40 Eur a month

What, you get that price for the first 10 minutes, and then it goes up to $100 per month?

Yes at long last the competitive market is having a postive effect - my new Movistar service (Fusion TV) gives me:

Fixed line, free calls to lines in Spain, and 550 min to mobiles
ADSL >10MB (and I get 10MB)
Mobile 4G, 2GB data, free calls, unlimited SMS (ok so now we use whatsapp)
TV - All Spanish TDT plus additional channels, inc BBC news - delivery over fiber optic, plus options to rent films etc (still working it all out!)

All inc for 60€ per month inc IVA

Pity all this takes 3 (yes 3) routers/decoders.......but still.

All installed within 48 hours of moving to this type of contract (for free) from my previous Fusion contract (got a free android phone when I signed that)

After much nagging from my firends I decided that at long last I would modernise and get myself a smartphone so phoned Movistar to find out about their offer of a free one and paying 11 euros a month. Ended up with the 60 euro offer that you have because it meant that I am paying less than 9 euros more than I was. Like you I am not interested in the TV part but it is the package so had to go along with it.

How long did it take for them to do the actual instalation and was it very disruptive? Can I ask if 3 routers is due to your situation or is this normal? How are you getting on with the TV part of it or has it made no difference?

Is the internet for the house unlimited download ?

Re: Movistar - More services, same money

Yes - the Fusion con TV limits the mobile to 2GB but landline unlimited.

Rosemary - they contacted me in under 24 hrs to arrange installation and was completed within 48hrs. Actual installation took 3 hrs, and will depend on how long it takes to pull the fibre optic cable into your home etc. I think 3 boxes will be standard - 1 to terminate fibre optic/phone, 1 for data and 1 for TV (needs a cable from entry point to TV point, can work WiFi, they will install)

Note - any other phone sockets in the property will be redundant so you will need cordless.

But again I expect service will depend upon area, here in Alicante it is fabulous.

Thank you.

Missed a couple of calls from them this morning but they have just called me to ask the distance between the TV and the router.

I only have the one phone socket the other two phones are cordless and just plug into normal sockets to keep the batteries charged. Television, computer and phone socket are all in one room so not too much hassle apart from the fact that I will need to clear things away for them.

Hate having anything done so I am dreading it, all this because of my friend nagging about a mobile.:eek:
