Movistar - More services, same money
Amazing but true – something for nothing from Movistar – Today I have changed my Movistar Fusion 4G contract to Fusion TV Para todos, and before the expiry date of original contract.
The benefits to me are faster internet, 2GB for mobile and TV services. This all for the same money as the existing contract.
I might have done better to change providers but I do not access to others and changing providers is always problematical.

Re: Movistar - More services, same money
Hmmm... That could have helped me back when I used Movistar, but I found a better, faster, cheaper solution that actually works throughout the entire day, so it's a bit too late.
Anyway, good on you. I'd check to see that that TV service actually works. It's been a few years, but we paid a fortune for it and it never worked, but we had to pay an entire year because we were locked into a contract.

OK well I am waiting for the technician to arrive and set the TV services up, was not actually bothered about TV, wanted faster ADSL and 4G..........but if it does not work (confident it will) then I will not pay.

Can't complain what we pay these days.....not from Telefonica I might add....binned them about 4 years ago.
10MB download, 3MB burst upload, telephone with up to 500 mins of free calls....43.99 Euros.
Back in 2005 we were paying Telefonica 65 Euros for 1MB down, 320kbs up, and phone.

Yes at long last the competitive market is having a postive effect - my new Movistar service (Fusion TV) gives me:
Fixed line, free calls to lines in Spain, and 550 min to mobiles
ADSL >10MB (and I get 10MB)
Mobile 4G, 2GB data, free calls, unlimited SMS (ok so now we use whatsapp)
TV - All Spanish TDT plus additional channels, inc BBC news - delivery over fiber optic, plus options to rent films etc (still working it all out!)
All inc for 60€ per month inc IVA
Pity all this takes 3 (yes 3) routers/decoders.......but still.
All installed within 48 hours of moving to this type of contract (for free) from my previous Fusion contract (got a free android phone when I signed that)

We are very happy with Movistar/Telefonica, we have fusion and get a true 10MB, above all it's reliable, never had a problem with service, we are in the Uk more than Spain so the Movistar mobile is very handy if we need to phone Spain as you are only charged the regulated roaming charges

Movistar won't be cheap much longer.
The strong rumour doing the rounds of Formula 1 are that Ron Dennis of McLaren, has done a deal to secure main sponsorship from Telefonica through its Movistar subsidiary. It will be a 3 year deal running to millions of Euro and see the current colour scheme of the cars change from silver/orange to blue/yellow.

Re: Movistar - More services, same money
Hi, we are new to Spain. We moved into an apartment and to our joy discovered a Movistar box which promises to allow us to see UK TV on our television. We have internet which works fine, but we are unable to set up this damn box no matter what we do. I have tried repeatedly to text 1002 which seems to be the only way to get tech support, but the text fails every time, even though I am using a Spanish mobile number to text from. There is a movistar shop here in La Linea but they just tell me to send the text.
Can anyone out there help me before I throw this box out of the window?! We so much want this service.

Movistar shops are franchises and, as such, are only interested in sales.
ps:- I can't believe Movistar stream English TV. So it begs the question, 'what is the box for?'.

Re: Movistar - More services, same money
The box and the Movistar website say that we can "turn our TV into a Smart TV" and get BBC1 and BBC2 and various other UK channels such as Dave, and Nat Geo, and the History channel if we set the box up. They proceed to show up simple stages to so this. But nothing so far has worked. Unfortunately I don't speak Spanish and when I call 1002 I don't understand what the recorded message tells me. So I went to the Movistar shop, which, as you say, is merely for sales of phones. But the girl there told me to send a text message to 1002. This fails to send. So I am now at a dead end. Does anyone a) know of this box, or b) is able to help me out? PS The box was already here in the apartment. On the website it says you pay a one-off fee of 150 Euros for it, and there are no further charges.
