We're hoping to go back and have another look at the area pretty soon. We have a 2 year old so we are hoping to leave her behind, but not home alone :-) it will make things easier for us to get out and about. we hadnt realised that work was impossible to come by and my hubby has since gone back and just comes over to visit me! lol. but i love it sooooo much. i dont regret a single minute of it. im learning spanish and doing ermm...not too bad. we'v been here 2 years now and im not far from yeccla. about 20 mins drive. I live just outside sax in a small village called salinas. just love it Hi dave (countryboy) |

we did exactly the same as you. Our very first ever visit to spain we fell in love with (and bought) the house we now own. How does your husband feel being away from you and I assume you have family? I'm worried that when my husband is back at home working i will be lonely. Not so much during the day as I am sure I will find things to fill my time but the nights can be quite lonely on your own. Dont you find it strange when he comes home, like he's intruding? I know my biggest problem is going to be my two year old. I'm the one who sets all the boundaries. Even now I have to be firm with my husband when I think he is breaking them. If he is going to be away for long periods (probably 3 weeks at a time) its going to be such a nightmare as he is so possessive over her. |

Yep it does, snow, but it is usually very short for a few days at most, and once it even got to about six inches, (the spanish built snowmen on the bonnets of their cars, and drove around with them,, On the Motorways as well , really wierd!!,, The kids go crazy on home made sleds or just plastic bread crates, on the hills),, in fact when it snows its seems like a bit of a fiesta starts, but to be clear, it snows briefly, can cover the ground then the sun comes out and its gone few days at most!!,
But it can be quite chilly, end of Jan and Febuary!!!!!! and that is more important, you would be well advised to get a house with a good heating system, Would you say that it rained quite a bit, when we stayed with people in Viellena they said that it rains more there and that the road had been washed away. But I'm definitely warming to the idea. |

I must admit, it hasnt been easy this winter as the weathers been crap so felt a bit isolated. |

I like the sound of the local ladies group, are the ladies english or spanish or perhaps even both? I was kinda relying on making friends through my daughter, but after being on the forums I seems I might not need to. Do you have children? I admire your courage getting out and about mixing with the locals especially during the winter months. |

Re: Moving To Yecla
Hi Polly.
My name is Dean and I run the yeclaserve site. I'm not here to advertise it but I can help to answer your questions so I thought I'd sign up. At present there are four families in Yecla with young kids that all go to School in Yecla. I have a 13 month old girl too. Nearly everybody knows eachother but we do not congregate all of the time. We do meet up for parties, BBQ's, etc. Schooling is very good in Yecla, at present they are rebuilding new Schools on the edge of town so as to move them all from the centre. We had snow in Yecla last year. It started at about 4pm and when we woke up in the morning there was a four inch blanket everywhere. Me being a bit of a kid, went with some friends to the top of the Yecla hill and it seemed everyman and his dog had the same idea. It was great fun, I even saw a guy skiing. The next day it had all gone. Mark my words, If you do decide to move to the town, It will not be long before you make plenty of friends. All the women go to the market on Wednesday. We call it ladies day. Where abouts is the property situated that you are keen on? Bye for now and if there is anything else you'd like to know, then fire away. Dean Hey Solarwhizz  |

Dean Hey Solarwhizz  I have visited Yeclaserve but haven't really had the opportunity to have a good look. My time is precious and any spare moment is spent with my daughter, most of my internet searching is done when I'm at work. The place we are looking at is eight kilometers from the town, in the mountains. We plan to come over again fairly soon to have a really good look around. We hope to visit the schools/nurserys too. Am I right in assuing that there would only be one school I need to view or are there several? What about nurserys? We will be child free so no inhibitions:lol: On a personal issue, I like to do my sports (I try and keep fit) so I would be keen to join a gym or swimming pool. My Spanish is worse than my French so to take lessons would be an urgent must. Any recomemdations? Everybody on here has been so helpful and friendly, I'm sure I would make friends easily. I am quite a social person and I'm sure when i'm out there there would be no holding me back. You'll probably see my cycling around with a toddler in tow. Thanks your making yourself known. |
