Hi Solarwhizz

You mentioned snow, how much does it snow? Is it quite heavy or just a splattering like we get in England.

I have been reading some of the forums and asking some questions and I must say I feel much more confident about the whole thing. You never know this time next year I could be a neighbour.....
When we were over in January we saw snow on cars in Castalla, also when driving to Guadalest - which is fairly high up - we passed snow drifts

I'm not worried about a bit of snow, but I told my husband I have been on here and asking some questions. He wanted to know how much snow.

We're hoping to go back and have another look at the area pretty soon. We have a 2 year old so we are hoping to leave her behind, but not home alone :-) it will make things easier for us to get out and about.

Don't worry about the amount of snow - I was born and brought up in Lancashire and I know what snow is It won't be that bad

LoL. I have been brought up in the london boroughs. I can't remember what proper snow looks like. Although I do remember having problems getting home from work one night on the tube due to a splattering of snow. Obviously the wrong type of snow

Will I miss all this if we move to spain

Do you really want an answer to that

You will love it - let me know when you are going and we will have to arrange to meet up.

LoL Delays and crowed trains of course I'm gonna miss it, not......
Would love to meet up.

Did you visit many times before taking the plunge? We have only visited once (my first visit ever to spain) and we have both so fallen in love with this house. I just need to be sure I can make friends before I give the OK.

Hey stop worrying! You will be ok. I will give you my Spanish number before we go so you won't feel you don't have anyone out there.

That would be great thanks.

I can see that we will very probably end up moving. It was just such a shock when my husband mentioned to me new years eve he wanted to move to spain. I have always said I'd go tomorrow, but when its put to you on a plate like that doubts start to appear. Its that eyes are bigger than your belly syndrome.

I'm kinda getting excited But hey lets not let him know that just yet.

Thanks, I'm sure once i get there I will be fine. We know a couple of people who live about 30 mins away (which is why we chose that part of spain) but they are friends of a friend. I just want to make my own friends.

I am sure as things move on I will have a million and one more questions and doubts of course.

Hi,Iv just been off to look at the map to see where Yelca is,Mmmmm Its a bit off the coast,If you can find out if there are many other brits living close by Im sure you will be fine, there is a member on here and she lives in a little village and they love it,they have Spanish friends who are very kind and considerate,we will be moving a lot further south,a place called Competa,if we can,I think there are them many British people moved and are about to move that you wont find it much of a problem.Have you looked into the facilities Yelca has got to offer, schools, shops, doctors, dentist, social activities, will your house have a pool? if not is there a village pool, can you not go for a holiday for a week or two and get a feel for the place,at the same time check a few things out,we are hoping to go over for a holiday,we will be doing a lot of searching whilst we are there,it is a big move and I dont think anyone can be 100% about the upheaval until you have actually made the move and lived there long enough for it to feel like home,it must seem to anyone like a holiday for the first few weeks until you realise that you actually live there,I dont think for one second that you are on your own.
When are you thinking of going?

No we haven't really looked into anything yet. This is why I've joined the forums to do my research. We have registered with an agent and they will arrange for us to visit the schools/nurserys. I will definately want to find a gym/swimming pool (daft I know when we will have our own).

I don't think we really want to live too close the the coast, although we will be nearer the coast than we are now, but on the otherhand I don't want to be too rural. Yecla is quite a large village with all the facilities I need (I hope)

I have several friends here who don't want me to go, but then if they are true friends they will still be there what ever and even come and visit.

I have said to my husband lets go back and take a proper look at the area, but i will need to check with my neighbour as we would want her to look after our 2 year old.

p.s. is your pal in the picture a boxer? We would definately get a dog if we move. A boxer being our first choice.

I think it would be a good idea if you went and had a proper look, you can do all the research from here, but you will need to know that the area you have chose is going to be right for you.
